Meghan Trainor has found an unusually adorable way to make sure her five-year-old son can keep Mum close, even when she's away fulfilling her popstar duties.

The 'All About That Bass' singer revealed that her eldest son, Riley, has recently been experiencing separation anxiety. After noticing that he had started pretending his favourite stuffed toys were his mother, Trainor decided there was an obvious solution.

She made him a miniature Meghan.

'My sweet 5-year-old boy is having separation anxiety,' the 32-year-old explained in an Instagram video. 'So he's started using his stuffies, his Smurfette, and was like, "This is Mama, this is Mama."'

Trainor recalled thinking, 'I'll make a mama, I'll make a stuffie that looks like Mama.'

Then came the reveal. 'The thing is, I did, and he loves it.'

Now that's the epitome of exclusive, personalised merch.

Meet Mini Meghan

Trainor proudly showed viewers the personalised doll, complete with short blonde hair and glasses designed to resemble the singer. Apparently, Riley approves of the likeness.

'And he loves it. He kisses it, he hugs it,' Trainor said before her son appeared alongside her.

When she asked Riley whether he thought the doll looked just like her, he answered with a simple 'yup' before running off.

Trainor even found humour in the finer details of her stuffed counterpart. 'She's even got my thin hair, do you know what I mean?' she joked. 'Kind of looks like me, dude!'

It might not have quite the vocal range of the real Meghan Trainor, but Mini Mum appears perfectly equipped for substitute cuddles.

Behind the amusing resemblance is a particularly sweet reason for the doll's existence. For a young child struggling when a parent is away, Riley had already found his own source of comfort by assigning the role of 'Mama' to his stuffed toys. Trainor simply took his idea and made it more accurate in appearance.

The result is something he can hug and carry around whenever he misses her.

Trainor shares Riley with her husband, Daryl Sabara, whom she married in 2018. The couple are also parents to three-year-old Barry and six-month-old daughter Mikey, whom they welcomed via surrogate in January.

Family life has recently played an especially important role in Trainor's professional decisions.

Meghan Trainor Puts Family First

In April, Trainor cancelled her planned 2026 Get in Girl tour, which had been scheduled to begin in June.

At the time, the singer explained that balancing a new album, preparations for a nationwide tour, and life with the couple's newly expanded family had become 'more than I can take on right now'.

She apologised to disappointed fans but said stepping away from the tour was the right decision for herself and her family.

From 'I'm a Lady' to 'I'm a Plushie'

Her latest glimpse into life at home puts an unexpectedly huggable face on that balancing act.

Plenty of elaborate parenting gadgets are designed to make family life easier. Sometimes, however, the solution is apparently a pair of glasses, some blonde hair, and a stuffed version of Mum who does the cuddling while real Mum takes the stage.

Riley may occasionally have to share the real Meghan Trainor with the rest of the world, but his pocket-sized version is all his.
