Britney Spears is keeping her relationship status clear, even as she gives blind dating a chance. The Grammy-winning pop icon said she had no interest in pursuing a relationship while preparing for dinner with friends and a blind date on Tuesday, 25 August 2026.

In a video shared through her verified Instagram account, the 44-year-old singer declared that she was 'single as can be' before heading out for the evening. 'I don't want to date anyone honestly, no thank you,' Spears wrote. She instead credited her friendships for her happiness, adding, 'My friends make me laugh. I'm pretty blessed.'

Spears Turns Her Blind Date Into a Fashion Moment

The Toxic singer accompanied the unexpected dating update with one of her signature dancing videos. Spears twirled for the camera in a silky white, high-neck gown featuring an open back and a dramatically high slit. She completed the look with black heels, crimped blonde hair and dark eyeliner.

This is not the first time Spears has agreed to a blind date while insisting she was happy on her own. During a 2016 appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, she revealed that friends regularly tried to set her up, although only two of the dates had been 'kind of cool'.

Recalling one particularly unsuccessful match, Spears said the man 'looked like a lizard' and admitted she left 'immediately' before confronting the friend who had arranged it.

A Blind Date Without Relationship Expectations

Although Spears placed 'blind date' and 'I don't want to date anyone' in the same caption, she appeared to distinguish between meeting someone and actively searching for a partner.

Her emphasis remained on feeling fulfilled by her friends rather than looking for a new romance.

The declaration follows an even firmer statement Spears shared in July 2024. In a caption that was later edited, the 'Oops!... I Did It Again' hitmaker described herself as single and wrote, 'I will never be with another man as long as I live.'

Her latest post softens that absolute position enough to allow a blind date, but it maintains the same message about not rushing into commitment.

Spears' most recent marriage was to actor and model Sam Asghari, whom she met while filming the 2016 music video for Slumber Party. They married at her California home on 9 June 2022 before separating in July 2023.

Los Angeles Superior Court documents show that a judge approved their divorce settlement on 2 May 2024, with their marital status officially ending on 2 December 2024.

Spears Continues To Centre Independence

The singer's focus on independence has remained a defining part of her public life since her conservatorship ended on 12 November 2021. The arrangement had controlled major parts of her personal and financial affairs for nearly 14 years. Spears later explored freedom, fame, motherhood and survival in her memoir, The Woman in Me.

According to Spears' official Simon & Schuster biography, the memoir has sold more than three million copies, while the singer has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.

Her newest dating update does not confirm that she has completely closed the door on romance. For now, however, Spears says friendship, laughter and the freedom to approach a blind date without relationship expectations are enough.
