British singer Charli XCX has announced seven new shows scheduled for 2027 that will run across six major cities, namely, London, Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin, Paris, and Amsterdam—but fans are still disappointed over the limited arena dates.
In an Instagram post, the artist finally responds to fan frustration after making the announcement of the UK and Europe leg of her Music, Fashion, and Film Tour.
What Fans Are Saying
Many fans felt shortchanged and ignored, claiming that the limited number of dates leave out her major fanbases who are unable to make the trip to the said cities. One comment on Reddit says: 'Why is she only doing 6 shows??? I hope she releases more dates because my hopes of getting tix are going down.' Another fan writes: 'This is really not funny. Just 2 shows outside of UK / Ireland... after waiting for an EU-Brat tour, this is not cool.'
Charli XCX continues in her Instagram post: 'I know there's a lot of frustration in the comments about the fact that I am not doing lots of dates. I am really sorry if you feel disappointed, but I have to honor my truth as an artist: touring is really emotionally and physically hard for me.'
The 'Brat' singer adds, 'I am not looking for sympathy and I have a huge amount of respect for artists who can handle it at an intense, lengthy and high-octane level, but I am just not one of those human beings and I never have been.'
'I'm sorry if you feel I am letting you down; I really am. Perhaps one day I will be built for the kind of touring you expect from me, but right now I am not.' She ends by saying: 'If you're coming to a show, I hope you have fun and enjoy it, and I will try my best to stay in a healthy and positive mindset and enjoy it too.'
Voicing Out for Mental Health
In recent years, the singer has been vocal about dealing with mental health issues, and has also taken brief pauses from social media, as she finds the constant attention overwhelming.
It's been reported that Charli XCX has also chosen to embark on a shorter run on her ongoing tour in North America for the same reasons. The 12-date arena tour running through September and October includes major cities like New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, and Toronto, with electronic artist Underscores joining her on the tour.
A Career-Defining Album
As the follow-up to her 2024 record 'Brat', her seventh album entitled Music, Fashion, Film looks to dominate pop culture yet again. Switching between mainstream and experimental, the avant-garde pop star continues to build on her career that's characterised by collaboration and reinvention. This time, the Essex-raised artist experimented with dark, grittier, and heavier sounds for her latest album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Official UK Albums Chart. This marks her 4th chart-topper in the UK.
In the United States, Music, Fashion, Film landed at No.3 on the Billboard 200 and gave the British artist her first No.1 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart.
The UK and European leg of Music, Fashion, Film is scheduled for 2027, with special guest Audrey Hobert joining her on all dates.
