Hayley Williams appears to have a new hair colour. There's just one problem: she isn't letting fans see it just yet.
The Paramore frontwoman sent fans into detective mode after sharing a pre-tour Instagram carousel filled with candid snaps ahead of her first solo headlining tour. While the photo dump offered plenty to investigate, from a throwback Riot! hoodie and a city skyline to a bowl of okra and some rather divisive toe socks, it was the final slide that really caught fans' attention.
Williams posed for a close-up selfie showing off her hair and seemingly freshly cut bangs. Conveniently, however, the one photo fans really wanted to colour-analyse was posted entirely in black and white.
In true fandom fashion, they weren't prepared to let that slide. After all, Paramore did not raise a whole generation on songs like 'Decode' and then expect them not totry to decipher her alleged new hair colour.
A Black and White Mystery
'Post that last pic in colour rn,' one fan demanded in the comments. Another appeared convinced a reveal was on the way, writing, 'new hair colour reveal incoming 'm shaking'.
Others were equally suspicious of Williams' decision to go monochrome for the final shot.
'That last pic is black and white for mystique purposes isnt it,' one fan joked, while another simply demanded: 'Ok hair reveal'.
The theories have already started, too. One fan wondered, 'pink hair incoming soon (?)', potentially signalling the return of one of the singer's brighter looks. Another was ready for something similarly bold, writing: 'now let me see the block color queen 💛'.
Meanwhile, Williams has yet to provide the photographic evidence fans are demanding. For now, whatever colour is hiding underneath that greyscale remains between Williams, her hairstylist, and that camera that has seen the truth before she possibly shielded it with a filter.
New Tour, New Hair?
The timing of Hayley Williams' mysterious selfie hasn't exactly discouraged speculation.
'Pre-tour energetic cleansing ^—^', she captioned the carousel as she prepared to kick off The Hayley Williams Show, her first-ever solo headlining tour.
The tour began in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday, 3 September, with North American dates set to continue into October. Williams is also taking the show to Latin America later this year before heading to the UK and Europe in 2027.
Fans were already filling the comments with requests for tour dates, songs, and hints about what to expect from the shows. Nevertheless, Williams' possible hair transformation managed to create a mystery of its own.
Given the singer's long history of experimenting with her hair, including the vivid orange and red shades closely associated with different points in her career, it's little surprise that one strategically monochrome selfie was enough to get fans guessing again.
Perhaps a new tour really does call for a new hair era. Or perhaps Williams simply knew exactly what she was doing when she made that final slide black and white. Either way, the investigation remains open.
Hayley, the people have asked nicely for the colour version. We suppose 'that's what you get' when you let your Instagram post turn into a mystery that your fans are all too happy to unravel.
