Nearly two decades after Mitchie Torres first told us 'this is real, this is me', Demi Lovato is officially back at Camp Rock.
And naturally, a comeback of this nostalgic calibre called for a little fashion archaeology.
Walking the red carpet for the Camp Rock 3 premiere in LA, the multihyphenate rocked a bronze satin Dolce & Gabbana dress. Lovato dipped into the Italian fashion house's archives for a look that made fans yearn for vintage Dolce as much as they anticipated the next instalment of the iconic Disney film. Between the metallic sheen, corset-style lacing, and body-skimming silhouette, this vintage find is no 'camp' and all 'rock'.
Camp Rock may have taught us to find our voice, but Demi Lovato is serving a lesson on how to find your colour, and hers is obviously bronze.
Vintage Dolce Gets Ready to Rock
Lovato's bronze midi dress features a fitted, heavily ruched bodice pulled together by lace-up detailing running vertically through the front. From there, the satin flows into a streamlined pencil skirt, landing below the knee and keeping all attention firmly on that rather busy upper half.
The warm bronze shade is easily the strongest part of the equation, beautifully complementing Lovato's complexion and glossy dark hair. She kept the rest relatively simple, finishing the outfit with Saint Laurent Brigitte pumps and allowing the archival piece to command the stage.
Overall, the dress delivered plenty of Hollywood glamour for a highly-anticipated comeback on the Disney Channel screen. It has all the ingredients of wonderfully excessive throwback glamour: shiny satin, bodycon proportions, and enough corset lacing to make subtlety pack its bags for camp.
Mitchie Torres Is Back
The timing of Lovato's archival fashion highlight feels especially appropriate considering she is preparing to revisit one of the most recognisable roles of her career.
Disney has confirmed that Lovato will reprise Mitchie Torres in Camp Rock 3, returning to the franchise for a cameo while also serving as an executive producer.
The new instalment finds Connect 3 (The Jonas Brothers) heading back to Camp Rock after losing the opening act for their reunion tour. Naturally, the campers begin competing for the newly vacant spot, bringing friendships, rivalries, romance, and presumably enough musical drama to power several spontaneous lakeside performances.
Camp Rock 3 premieres on Disney Channel on 13 August before arriving on Disney+ the following day.
For anyone who grew up watching Lovato belt 'This Is Me' opposite Joe Jonas, seeing Mitchie Torres again is already enough of a nostalgia bomb.
And that makes the vintage Dolce & Gabbana even more fitting.
Fans were quick to reach for the funniest Disney references, alluding to her famous 'Disney knees' pose mid-song.
