August fashion is apparently experiencing a serious case of the fluffies.

While summer wardrobes traditionally start stripping back as temperatures climb, celebrities have spent the tail end of the season doing quite the opposite. Feathers are floating across tops, dresses and trims, while fuzzy textures and flashes of fur are already sneaking autumn into the conversation.

It makes strange meteorological sense. August sits in fashion limbo: too late to care about building an entirely new summer wardrobe, too early to surrender to coats and pumpkin lattes.

The solution? Feathers, of course.

Rather than bundling themselves beneath full autumn layers, stars are introducing tactile drama in smaller doses. An ethereal feather here. A furry trim there. Enough fluff to suggest autumn is coming.

And judging by this month's celebrity wardrobes, summer is ending on a decidedly fuzzy note.

Hilary Duff Is Pretty in Pink Plumage

On night one of her Madison Square Garden tour stop, Hilary Duff did not simply dip a toe into the feather trend. She appears to have jumped into the entire bird bath.

Performing in a spectacular pink feathered top, the singer let layers of wispy plumage tumble asymmetrically from one shoulder and cascade down her torso. The extravagant texture could easily have swallowed the rest of the outfit, so Duff made the smartest possible move below the waist: jeans.

Relaxed light-wash denim brought the floating pink confection firmly back to earth, creating that glorious high-low styling equation celebrities keep proving works: party on top, Tuesday afternoon below.

And motion is precisely why feathers work so beautifully on stage. Every turn, breeze, and dramatic hair toss gives them another chance to perform alongside the person actually holding the microphone.

Summer may be approaching its final act of the year, but Duff intends to ruffle a few fabulous feathers before the exit.

Victoria Justice Ruffles up the LBD

Victoria Justice made the feather trend considerably flirtier at her friends' wedding reception in Colombia.

After fulfilling her bridesmaid duties in butter yellow, Justice slipped into an elegant black lace mini trimmed with fluffy black feathers along the sleeves and hem. The feathered dream is a quirky take on the little black dress. Paired with sparkling drop earrings, a tiny black handbag, and towering platform heels, the actress gave the summer heat a run for its money.

Romantic lace, dramatic feathers, and a Colombian night view behind her? Consider this the little black dress taking flight.

Birthday Suit, but Make It Feathered

Kylie Jenner celebrated the eve of her birthday by giving hot pink feathers the full princess treatment.

For what she called her 'dream princess kitty bday night', Jenner wore a figure-hugging pink mini dress with a feather boa, a matching feathered tiara, and heels finished with yet another flutter of pink fluff.

It is campy and unapologetically extra, channelling birthday Barbie, glamorous showgirl, and a particularly fabulous flamingo. Side note: are those grown-up versions of the princess dress-up shoes that kids wore during the Y2K era?

Seemingly, when it comes to August's feather obsession, three fluffy accessories are better than one.

Nina Dobrev Gives Feathers a Fine Finish

Nina Dobrev may have worn this look back in June, but consider it the feather trend's early warning sign.

Promoting The Get Out, Dobrev shined in an ethereal white strapless dress that begins sweetly with delicate floral embroidery before dissolving into a sheer, feather-covered skirt. Wispy white plumes trail all the way to the floor, softening the silhouette without weighing down its dreamy summer feel. It's a challenge to decide whether she looks like a garden fairy or a very well-dressed swan.

And perhaps that's why feathers have flown all the way into August. They can be loud, fluffy and flamingo pink, but they can also be this delicate and dreamlike.

Aside from their charming aesthetic, feathers have been said to be signs of good luck. If that rings true, then given the amount of feathers spotted on the style radar recently, August is set to be showered in good fortune.
