Inde Navarrette has become the subject of an unexpected social media storm after entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider publicly criticised the actress's team over what he described as unanswered attempts to contact them. The situation drew attention online after Sneider himself described his next move as a threat.
Instead of letting the unanswered messages go, Sneider warned that he could start reporting what he described as 'non-stop rumours' about Navarrette. His comments have since prompted a wave of criticism from fans, with social media users questioning whether publicly pressuring an actress to engage crosses a line.
Jeff Sneider Makes His Threat
Sneider took to X to share his apparent difficulty getting a response from Navarrette's representatives. He indicated that he had reached out to the actress's publicists but had not heard back.
'I plan to write about Inde Navarrette for a long time. I can be a useful friend to her team... or I can share literally everything I hear about her,' he wrote, alongside a screenshot that appeared to show part of an email he had sent to her team.
One user criticised Sneider for complaining about a young actress's team not giving him their attention, saying his behaviour came across as 'creepy'. Sneider then responded with a particularly blunt clarification.
'Complaining? I wasn't complaining. That was a threat! Engage.. or don't, and be subjected to non-stop rumors,' he replied. He added that he would actually 'love to continue being ignored' because it would allow him to say whatever he wants, adding that it had been 'very lucrative' for him.
I plan to write about Inde Navarrette for a long time. I can be a useful friend to her team... or I can share literally everything I hear about her. The best part is, THEY get to decide. I can forgive being ghosted this summer. I won't forget, but I can forgive... just not twice. pic.twitter.com/ouW9o8fZ6o

Complaining? I wasn't complaining. That was a threat! Engage.. or don't, and be subjected to non-stop rumors. Believe me, I'd love to continue being ignored so I can say whatever I want. It's proven to be very lucrative for me. Side Note: How can I get biceps like you? Jealous!

Fans Quickly Push Back
The response from social media users was largely negative. One commenter bluntly labelled him a 'creepy weirdo' for demanding a woman's attention. Another added: 'Imagine being a grown man and threatening a woman. You sound like a creep.'
Someone else called the situation 'mad weird', saying that getting upset because Navarrette was apparently not interested in engaging with him was 'loser behaviour'. Another critic took aim at his career as an entertainment journalist, calling his actions 'unprofessional'.
And one user simply wrote: 'This guy is OBSESSED,' in reference to Navarrette's breakthrough film.
Inde Navarrette Lands New Role
The controversy arrives as Navarrette's career is gaining serious momentum.
This week, it was reported that the Obsession breakout star is set to lead The Waffle House Index, an upcoming Apple Original Films project from Plan B Entertainment.
The film is based around a Waffle House waitress whose night takes a dangerous turn when an armed stranger arrives at the restaurant. Navarrette is also attached as an executive producer, adding another major credit to her growing CV.
The casting news follows another major career move for Navarrette as she recently landed the role of Rogue in Marvel's upcoming X-Men film. Sneider's own website has also previously reported on Navarrette's rising profile and her involvement in upcoming projects.
With major film projects ahead, Navarrette is clearly entering a new stage of her career. For now, however, much of the online conversation surrounding her is focused not on her acting work, but on the unusual public exchange involving Sneider.
