Grammy-winning singer Pink is facing a fresh round of mockery after posting a string of Instagram Stories about being disliked, misunderstood and cast as the villain, just as backlash continued over her repost of a StopAntisemitism message criticising Macklemore's political remarks. The posts appeared on 7 September, one day after Pink reshared a StopAntisemitism message demanding apologies and refunds for concertgoers who saw Macklemore open Sheeran's Loop Tour dates in New Jersey.
The reaction quickly spread to r/Fauxmoi, where a thread accused the So What singer of responding 'by being a loser'. The discussion soon widened beyond the Stories themselves, with one commenter pointing to Pink's previous appearance with Israeli activist Noa Tishby and writing that 'no one paid attention and realized what a massive zionist she is'. The description was the Reddit user's assessment of Pink's politics, not language used by Pink herself.
Pink's 'Unbothered' Stories Draw New Criticism
Pink's Instagram response did not mention Macklemore by name, but its timing drew attention because it followed a weekend of criticism over her repost. She shared about 10 memes and quotes, including 'Being liked by everyone is a clown's job', 'I'm not for everyone and honestly that has saved me a lot of time' and 'If they want to paint you as the villain, then pose'. Another post read: 'Don't let idiots ruin your day. It's your day. Ruin it yourself.'
Reddit users immediately focused on the contrast between Pink's insistence that she did not need universal approval and the sheer number of posts she shared about criticism. 'Nothing says unbothered like making 10 ig story posts about how "unbothered" you are,' the thread's top comment read. Another user called her a 'turbo loser', while others contrasted the Stories with the outspoken image Pink cultivated through songs including Dear Mr President and Stupid Girls.
The Row Began With Pink's Macklemore Repost
Pink's backlash began after she reshared a post from StopAntisemitism on 6 September about Macklemore's opening sets for Sheeran at MetLife Stadium on 4 and 5 September. The original post criticised the Thrift Shop rapper for wearing a keffiyeh, 'calling for "Free Palestine"' and describing Israel's actions in Gaza as genocide. It also said concertgoers were 'owed apologies and refunds' and tagged Sheeran, while Pink added no separate written comment of her own.
On 7 September, Macklemore posted a video of his speech to X with the caption: 'Wanting all humans to be treated equal should never be controversial.' The post indicated that the Grammy-winning Can't Hold Us rapper was standing by the message at the centre of the controversy despite objections to his political remarks during Sheeran's shows.

Macklemore's set included Hind's Hall, his 2024 protest song referring to Columbia University's Hamilton Hall, which pro-Palestinian protesters occupied and unofficially renamed Hind's Hall in honour of six-year-old Palestinian girl Hind Rajab. During his remarks, he spoke about Gaza, the occupied West Bank and other conflicts, while the Israeli-American Council subsequently called for him to be removed from Sheeran's remaining tour dates. During his second MetLife appearance, Macklemore said criticism of Israel was 'in no way' criticism of Jewish people and described his message as one of 'peace' and equal treatment.
Reddit Turns Pink's Response Into the Story
By then, Macklemore's speech was no longer the only thing driving the conversation. Pink's response had become a story of its own, with Reddit users treating the volume of her posts as the joke. 'She's bothered and posting through it,' one commenter wrote. Another paraphrased the apparent contradiction more bluntly: 'I don't care. And I'll show you [how] much I don't care. I'll prove to you that I don't care.'
The thread also pushed beyond the Stories themselves, with users revisiting Pink's December 2025 appearance with Tishby, who previously served as Israel's special envoy for combating antisemitism and delegitimisation. Pink joined Tishby to light the first Hanukkah candle and discussed her Jewish identity and experiences with antisemitism. The appearance resurfaced in the Reddit thread as commenters reassessed Pink's politics following the Macklemore repost. The 'massive Zionist' description, however, was the opinion of one Reddit user rather than a label Pink has applied to herself.
What began as a dispute over Macklemore's remarks at an Ed Sheeran concert had, by Monday, shifted into a debate over Pink's reaction to the criticism. Her Stories repeatedly insisted that she did not need to be liked, understood or seen as the hero, but Reddit users zeroed in on the fact that she kept posting about exactly that. As one commenter put it, she was 'bothered and posting through it'. For many users in the thread, the Macklemore repost may have started the backlash, but Pink's attempt to show she was above it became the part they found hardest to ignore.
