Prince William weighed in on backup dancing just hours before Travis Kelce married Taylor Swift at Madison Square Garden. The verdict didn't come from his coach or his brother, but from the future King of England himself.
The Prince of Wales turned up as a surprise guest on the Kelce brothers' New Heights podcast on Friday. He ended up settling a debate that Swifties and NFL fans have argued over for two years.
The Royal Ultimatum: NFL vs the Eras Tour
Jason Kelce, never one to let his brother off easily, put William on the spot. Which was more iconic at Wembley Stadium, he asked: Travis scoring a touchdown against the Detroit Lions in 2015, or Travis appearing onstage as a backup dancer during Taylor's Eras Tour stop in 2024?
William didn't hesitate. He picked the Swift moment outright, calling it 'definitely a very proud moment of my life, for sure'. Travis wasn't about to argue with a prince. He said if Taylor ever signs up for another tour, he'll 'happily make sure that we bring her back to life'.
The nerves clearly hadn't faded either. Travis and Jason revisited their first backstage meeting with William in 2024, when he brought Prince George and Princess Charlotte to watch Taylor perform. Travis admitted they were 'so nervous to meet you guys and the royal family', while Jason confessed he was so flustered he didn't know what to do with his beer.
Charlotte left the biggest mark on both of them. Jason called her 'the highlight for me', and Travis described the whole encounter as one of the coolest moments of his life.
William Talks Also About Football
The conversation wasn't just about Taylor. William revealed his father, King Charles, 'hates football', despite William being a lifelong Aston Villa man himself. He also playfully teased the Kelces about American football, joking that Brits could do with a primer on the rules before he'd fully support it becoming popular back home. Regarding England's World Cup chances under Thomas Tuchel, he said he was 'quietly confident', and confirmed he'd cross the Atlantic if the team reached the final.
'Holy Cow!' Fans React Online
Viewers could barely believe what they were watching. Comments flooded in questioning how the Kelces had managed to land a royal guest at all, given how rarely the family sits down for interviews, let alone a podcast. Plenty called it one of the most surprising bookings ever, with several pointing out the timing: a British prince appearing on an American podcast for the Fourth of July.

The overwhelming reaction was to William himself. Fans described him as down to earth, genuine and completely at ease, with one viewer only half joking that this was the best wedding gift Travis and Taylor could have asked for, better than any toaster. Others said the appearance showed a side of him rarely seen in official royal life, calling him classy, composed and, in their words, exactly the kind of king Britain will be lucky to have.
So, Travis Kelce may have married into pop royalty this week, but when it comes to his dance moves, he still answers to the actual Crown. Whether Taylor takes the hint remains to be seen, but somewhere out there, Wembley is already holding its breath.
