Rita Ora apparently received two very different dress codes for her latest Ibiza performance: Roaring Twenties glamour and barefoot island living.
Naturally, she wore both. The singer surprised members at Soho Farmhouse Ibiza with an intimate golden-hour performance last week, swapping the enormous stages for a yoga deck tucked beneath the pines.
Her wardrobe, however, refused to keep things low-key. Ora performed in a shimmering beaded dress dripping with metallic embellishments and long strands of fringe, serving enough 1920s glamour to make a flapper applaud in approval.
Then came the unexpected finishing touch: absolutely no shoes.
Barefoot, beaded, and performing within touching distance of her audience, Rita Ora somehow made Jazz Age glamour look completely at home on an Ibiza yoga deck.
Rita Ora Brings the Roaring Twenties to Ibiza
All the dress needed to do in order to charm its way into people's hearts was...move.
Its loose silhouette fell just below Ora's knees, while intricate metallic beading covered practically every available inch. Rows of fringe hung from the skirt, creating exactly the sort of swish-and-shimmer effect that made flapper dresses synonymous with the 1920s.
Her blonde hair was styled close to the head in sculpted finger waves, perhaps the clearest nod to the Jazz Age beauty aesthetic. Jewellery and visible tattoos added a contemporary contrast to all that vintage glamour.
Moreover, where a pair of sparkling Mary Janes or strappy heels might have completed the period fantasy, Ora ditched footwear altogether.
Turns out the easiest way to take a century-old fashion reference to Ibiza is simply to lose the shoes but keep the anklet on.
Big Star, Small Stage
The setting made the outfit even more striking. Soho Farmhouse Ibiza revealed that its yoga deck had temporarily become a stage for the singer as part of its Soho Unplugged series, which brings intimate and unannounced performances to its Houses.
Ora performed a stripped-back set at golden hour as members gathered beneath the surrounding pine trees.
There were no enormous LED screens, sprawling runways, or arena-sized crowds separating singer from audience. Instead, Ora stood behind a microphone with listeners gathered close enough for the performance to feel like stumbling into an exceptionally glamorous private music session.
For an artist accustomed to performing for thousands, there is something rather endearing about stripping everything back to the reason those enormous crowds gather in the first place: somebody singing, somebody else listening, and everybody vibing.
From Ibiza Holiday to Golden-Hour Glamour
The performance took place while Ora has been spending time in Ibiza with her husband, Taika Waititi.
The couple was photographed enjoying the Spanish island earlier this month, making Ora's surprise appearance feel perfectly suited to a trip that has seemingly moved between holiday mode and work without requiring much distance between them.
Rita Ora Puts the 'Pop' in Pop-Up Performance
The simplicity was the greatest luxury of Ora's Ibiza look.
The singer did not need an elaborate production to make an entrance, nor did her shimmering dress require a traditional red carpet to fulfil its purpose. Every strand of fringe got its moment simply by moving along with her as she performed.
It was old-school glamour without the stiffness and pop-star spectacle without the scale.
A century after flappers helped make fringe synonymous with dancing until the stars came out, Rita Ora gave the look an Ibiza update.
Roaring Twenties? More like roaring, barefoot, and Rita.
