David Beckham has spent decades as the family's undisputed style king. However, on the opening day of Wimbledon 2026, his own son might have just dethroned him.
Romeo Beckham, 23, turned up at SW19 wearing an 18-carat rose gold Patek Philippe Nautilus, and it instantly overshadowed the far more modest timepiece on his father's wrist. Within minutes of the pair being photographed courtside, watch collectors and football fans alike were debating which of the two had the best taste.
How Much Does Romeo's Watch Cost
The watch in question is the Nautilus 7118, and it retails for around £54,000. That is before factoring in resale demand, which tends to push Nautilus prices well above sticker on the secondary market. For context, David's own watch that day, a steel Tudor Black Bay 58, retails for roughly £4,200. Romeo's piece cost well over ten times more than his father's.

A Tale of Two Watches
David, 51, arrived in a sharp grey suit paired with his usual understated Tudor. As a long-time Tudor ambassador, the choice made sense. It is a serious watch among collectors, prized for its Master Chronometer certification and classic 39mm case. Next to his son's wrist though, it suddenly looked almost humble.
Romeo, meanwhile, kept things equally sharp with a tailored navy suit and open-collar shirt. The look leant more toward relaxation than his father's, but was still every bit as polished. His Nautilus has a silver opaline dial with a distinctive wave pattern and is traditionally marketed as a women's watch, a detail that has not gone unnoticed among fans.
Some have pointed out he skipped straight past his father's own extensive Patek and Rolex collection to make the statement. Whether it's a bold fashion choice or a happy accident, it is hard to say.
Not David's First Watch Battle
This is not the first time a Beckham has out-watched him. Victoria has built up a serious Nautilus collection of her own over the years, including more than one in rose gold and an older yellow gold model from 2006.
Brooklyn was also spotted a while back wearing a rose gold Nautilus 5711 on The Late Late Show. The Beckhams have been quietly competing in a family watch contest for years, and Romeo just made the latest move.
David is hardly a watch novice himself. His own collection includes impressive pieces, including a Patek Philippe Celestial Grand Complication. That makes his choice of a a simpler Tudor watch for Wimbledon look more deliberate.
Wimbledon's Real Style Showdown
Romeo attended with girlfriend Kim Turnball, a relatively new face at Beckham family outings. The pair posed together courtside before matches started. Their watches still ended up as one of the most talked-about details from the day, with photos of the two doing the rounds online almost as soon as they were taken.
David may still hold the family name, the England captaincy on his CV and the brand deals to match. But on day one at SW19, it was his son's £54,000 rose-gold Nautilus that made the headlines.
So, who actually won the Beckham watch wars this year, the restrained collector or the son determined to outshine him? With Victoria's own Nautilus collection sitting quietly in the background, it might not even be a two-horse race for long.
