Most people fighting deportation try to stay out of the spotlight. Anna Delvey walked into one of New York's biggest art parties wearing a court-ordered GPS tracker on her ankle, and she seemed happy for everyone to see it.
The convicted fraudster, born Anna Sorokin, posed between two silver Lexus cars at the MSCHF x Lexus USA Motomorphosis event during Armory Week. Her outfit was calm and pale, so the one dark detail stood out at once: a black band at her ankle. It raises a fair question about the art and fashion crowd. During New York's Armory Week, MSCHF bent a Lexus RZ 450e into a closed ring and twisted an RX 450h+ into a spiral, giving the production bodies the elastic logic of 3D animation. Each sculpture sits beside its unmodified twin at Chelsea Industrial, 545 W. 28th St., New York.
MSCHF calls them Form Cars rather than concept cars, and where a car is engineered to move, these works are sculpted to produce the idea of movement. Opening night was Thursday, 24 September; public hours were 25 and 26 September, from 10 AM to 6 PM, free with an RSVP.
What Did Anna Delvey Wear to the Art Show?
Her outfit was simple and calm. She wore a loose beige coat-dress with a high collar, nude pointed heels, big tinted sunglasses and a tan handbag. Every piece was a similar soft colour, so nothing fought for attention. The one exception was a black band just above her shoe, which appears to be her ankle monitor.
That contrast is why the look works. With everything else pale and plain, your eye goes straight to the dark band. It looks like a finishing touch, not something she is trying to hide.
The art show gives her the perfect backdrop. Each twisted, bent Lexus sculpture sits next to a normal, untouched car, so you can compare the two. One trade review says that pairing is the whole point of the show. Delvey is a pair of her own, with the polished image on one side and the court record on the other, all in a single outfit.
There is a second link. The sculptures look like they are moving but never go anywhere. Her monitor does the opposite job, because it exists to track exactly where she goes.

Ahead of her season 33 appearance on Dancing with the Stars (autumn 2024), she said she would be bejewelling the monitor, after ICE granted her an exemption to travel. Viewers both celebrated and condemned the look, and one X user called it their favourite pop culture moment of the year.
Supporters see someone refusing to hide. Critics see a scene that rewards notoriety, with a woman convicted of defrauding banks and friends appearing at high-profile events.
Delvey was convicted in 2019, released on parole in 2021, taken into ICE custody for overstaying her visa, and remains under house arrest while she fights deportation. She has turned a symbol of restriction into her most recognisable accessory, and New York keeps handing her a stage to wear it on. Until her case reaches a resolution, expect the monitor to remain in the frame.
