Debbie McGee has revealed the non-invasive skin treatment she credits with dramatically improving her complexion, saying it erased long-standing age spots and left her skin looking years younger without the need for Botox or dermal fillers.

The 67-year-old television personality has admitted she was never comfortable with cosmetic injectables, instead choosing a collagen-stimulating procedure that delivered gradual, natural-looking results. After completing a course of NeoGen nitrogen plasma treatments, McGee says she now feels confident appearing in public with little or no make-up, describing the transformation as far greater than she had expected.

Why Debbie Chose NeoGen Over Botox

Unlike many celebrities who have openly embraced injectables, McGee said Botox and fillers had always made her uneasy.

Instead of seeking a treatment that temporarily freezes muscles or restores facial volume, she wanted something that would improve the quality of her skin while allowing her natural features to remain unchanged.

Her biggest concern was a cluster of inherited brown age spots on her cheek that she had spent years covering with concealer.

'It wasn't a mole. It was two, but they kind of covered this area of my cheek,' she explained. 'They're unsightly. So I always had to cover it with makeup, and if I didn't, people would say, "What's that?"'

For McGee, the goal was never to look dramatically different but simply to feel more confident in her own skin.

How The Treatment Works

McGee underwent six NeoGen nitrogen plasma treatments at Aspire Clinic in Reading under aesthetic practitioner Jenny O'Neill.

The full course reportedly costs £4,500, working out at approximately £750 per session. While it represents a significant investment, McGee believes the results justified the expense, suggesting the treatment has reduced her reliance on expensive skincare products and heavy makeup.

NeoGen Plasma works by converting nitrogen gas into plasma energy, which delivers controlled heat beneath the skin's surface. Rather than targeting only the outer layer like some traditional resurfacing treatments, it stimulates collagen and elastin production deep within the skin.

As fresh collagen develops over the following weeks and months, the complexion continues to improve naturally, helping to refine skin texture, soften fine lines and create a firmer appearance.

More Than Just Age Spot Removal

Although McGee initially sought treatment for pigmentation, she says the benefits extended well beyond fading her age spots.

Having described herself as a former 'sun worshipper', she noticed that years of accumulated sun damage, including scattered freckles, gradually became less noticeable.

'So now I'm the proud owner of a face with clear skin at my grand old age,' she said. 'It's a wonderful treatment in so many more ways than I would've ever thought possible.'

She also reported ongoing improvements long after completing her treatment course. According to McGee, her upper lip lines softened naturally, her skin texture became smoother, and she experienced subtle tightening around her jawline as collagen production continued.

Natural Results That Friends Noticed

Perhaps the biggest compliment, according to McGee, was that people noticed she looked refreshed without assuming she had undergone cosmetic procedures.

'What's been fantastic about NeoGen is all my girlfriends, and lots of guys I know, keep telling me, 'My goodness, Debbie, you look so good.' But they don't say, 'What have you had done?'

That understated result is one reason collagen-stimulating treatments have become increasingly popular among people seeking facial rejuvenation without appearing 'overdone'. Rather than creating an immediate transformation, NeoGen works gradually, allowing improvements to develop over time.

To fit around her busy schedule, McGee opted for lower-energy sessions with minimal downtime. Numbing cream can also be used during treatment for patients concerned about discomfort.

The Growing Trend Towards Natural Skin Rejuvenation

McGee's experience reflects a wider shift within the beauty industry, where more people are choosing regenerative treatments over injectables.

Dermatologists and aesthetic practitioners have increasingly highlighted procedures that stimulate the body's own collagen production, offering gradual improvements instead of altering facial expressions or adding volume. Treatments such as plasma therapy, radiofrequency and microneedling have become popular options for patients looking to address pigmentation, uneven texture and early signs of ageing while maintaining a natural appearance.

Experts also advise that results vary depending on skin type, age and individual concerns, and anyone considering aesthetic procedures should consult a qualified practitioner to determine the most appropriate treatment plan.

Confidence Comes Naturally

This year marks 50 years in show business for McGee, who is also preparing for the publication of her autobiography, A Magical Life. As she continues her career in the public eye, she says feeling comfortable without relying on concealer has become one of the treatment's greatest rewards.

For McGee, the biggest success was not looking like a different person, but looking like the best version of herself. Her experience also reflects a growing movement towards subtle, collagen-boosting treatments that prioritise healthier, naturally radiant skin over dramatic cosmetic enhancements.
