An alleged text message sent by Halle Berry's 12-year-old son to his father, Olivier Martinez, has been revealed as part of a legal dispute involving the former couple. In the message, the boy reportedly asked his father, 'Are u here please come', after Martinez alleged that Berry had choked their son during an argument at her home.
The alleged exchange was included in court documents filed by Martinez as he seeks changes to the former couple's custody arrangement. The claims have not been established in court, and Berry has denied the allegations through her legal team.
Alleged Text Sent To Olivier Martinez
According to Martinez's court filing, the alleged incident happened on 26 September 2026 at Berry's home while their son, Maceo, was playing a virtual-reality game in his bedroom.
Martinez alleged that an argument between Berry and their son escalated and that the actress put her hands around the boy's neck. He claimed that Maceo subsequently contacted him and asked him to come and collect him.
The court documents reportedly include messages that Martinez says were exchanged between him and his son following the alleged confrontation.
One of the messages attributed to Maceo reads, 'Are u here please come.' Martinez allegedly responded that he was on his way and was around eight minutes away.
The alleged text has become a central detail in reports about the custody dispute because it describes the boy apparently asking his father to come to the property shortly after the alleged incident.
Martinez has claimed that he received a call from his son before the text messages and travelled to Berry's home. He said Maceo left with him when he arrived.
Choking Allegation Remains Disputed
The alleged text was submitted in connection with Martinez's request for changes to the existing custody arrangement. He has asked the court for sole legal and physical custody of their son.
Martinez has also made other allegations concerning Berry's treatment of Maceo in his filing. However, those claims remain allegations and have not been proven by a court.
The reported text message itself does not establish what happened during the alleged confrontation. Its significance in the case comes from Martinez's account of when and why he says the message was sent.
The custody dispute therefore involves competing accounts from the former couple, with Berry rejecting Martinez's allegations.
Halle Berry Denies The Claims
Berry has denied the allegations made by Martinez.
Her attorney described the claims as 'entirely meritless and deliberately misleading', according to reports. Berry's legal team has disputed Martinez's account of the events and opposed his request for changes to the custody arrangement.
The actress and Martinez have previously been involved in legal disputes concerning the parenting of Maceo. They were married in 2013 and finalised their divorce in 2023, after which they continued to share parental responsibilities for their son.
The latest allegations have brought their custody arrangements back before the court.
Temporary Restraining Order Granted
A Los Angeles County judge granted Martinez a temporary restraining order against Berry on 1 October 2026 following his allegations involving their son.
The temporary order modified Berry's visitation with Maceo while the court considers the competing claims. She was reportedly permitted to see her son two days a week and every other weekend, under court-ordered terms, until the next hearing.
The court proceedings are ongoing, and the temporary order does not represent a final finding that Berry abused her son.
A further hearing is scheduled for 16 October 2026, when the court is expected to consider the competing claims and requests concerning custody and visitation.
The alleged message — 'Are u here please come' — remains part of Martinez's evidence in the custody dispute. The circumstances surrounding the message and the alleged confrontation are contested, with Berry denying the accusations made against her.
