Hilary Duff has sent millennials straight back to 2003 after recreating Lizzie McGuire's famous fountain wish from The Lizzie McGuire Movie. One coin, a familiar blonde hairstyle, and an Instagram caption later, fans are ready to pack their bags for Rome and demand answers about a possible reboot.
Except there is one small geographical complication. Duff wasn't actually in Rome. The fountain in her video is a replica of the Trevi Fountain at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Apparently, what dreams are made of can also be found in Nevada.
One Coin, a Thousand Reboot Theories
In the clip, Duff sits by the fountain wearing a pink handkerchief top and jeans, with blonde bangs reminiscent of her Disney Channel days. She says 'Okay', tosses a coin over her shoulder into the water, and smiles, recreating the moment Lizzie makes her wish during her Italian adventure. No one might have said it out loud, but surely, some of us were expecting Paolo to pop up and say, 'Isabella?'
Her caption offered absolutely no assistance to anyone trying to remain calm, as most of the fans speculated a potential reboot or sequel. Overall, it was just a potpourri of fans announcing that they are on the verge of tears. Happy and nostalgic tears, but tears nonetheless.
Duff wrote, 'any guesses what I wished for ... ⛲️✨🪩🍒'. Naturally, the comments became an emergency meeting for the Lizzie McGuire fandom.
'I HOPE SHE MEANT NEW LIZZIE MAGUIREEEE MOVIEEE,' one fan wrote. Another warned, 'If it ain't the reboot I'm gonna cry', while someone else demanded, 'A SEQUEL!?!?????'
Even Disney joined the nostalgia party. Disney Studios commented, 'hey now', while Disney+ wrote, 'We're experiencing deja vu.'
Neither Duff nor Disney has confirmed a new Lizzie McGuire film or television project. For now, the reboot remains a wish rather than an announcement.

The references go back to the 2003 film, in which Lizzie meets Paolo during a school trip to Rome and becomes entangled in his plan to pass her off as his singing partner, Isabella. Paolo's scheme eventually falls apart, giving Lizzie the opportunity to perform 'What Dreams Are Made Of' and deliver one of Disney's most memorable musical finales. Twenty-three years later, fans clearly have not forgotten the assignment.
What Did Hilary Actually Wish For?
The fountain post also arrives amid renewed interest in Duff's music, with a countdown on her website prompting speculation about an upcoming announcement.
Some followers guessed a Vegas residency, while others suggested a sequel, new music, or even Metamorphosis part two. One fan wrote, 'You wished for Metamorphosis pt. 2', while another wondered whether the Vegas setting itself was the clue.
Duff has yet to explain what she wished for, and the video alone does not establish whether it relates to music, television, or simply a very successful nostalgia trip. But if she wanted to know whether people still care about Lizzie McGuire, the comments have delivered their answer.
