The singer wrapped the UK leg of her Lucky Me tour at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday, 15 September, but anyone worried that the final curtain call meant goodbye probably needed to look up or down — depending on where the confetti was at the moment. Scattered across the venue were burgundy butterfly-shaped pieces of confetti carrying the extremely cryptic message: '2027 More Dates Loading'.
By 'extremely cryptic', we mean Duff practically handed fans the spoiler herself.
Hilary Duff Lets the Confetti Do the Talking
The message arrived during a fittingly nostalgic finale. Duff closed out her second night at the O2 with 'What Dreams Are Made Of', the beloved The Lizzie McGuire Movie song that has spent more than two decades waiting for millennials to scream it together in an arena.
Then came the butterflies. Fans picked up the burgundy confetti and discovered '2027 More Dates Loading' printed across the wings. Pink butterflies carried a sweeter message: 'I Love You'.
So, technically, Hilary Duff showered London with love notes and a scheduling update.
Considering fans immediately began posting photographs of tiny pieces of paper online as if they had just uncovered classified documents, we'd say the message has been received 'with love'.
A Countdown Clock Makes the Hint Even Less Secret
The 'Come Clean' singer did not leave her breadcrumb trail on the arena floor. As she took her bows, a countdown appeared on the screen behind the stage. A timer was subsequently added to her official website, signalling that something is coming next week.
The countdown is expected to culminate next Wednesday, 23 September. That's just days before she turns 39 on 28 September, giving fans two Duff occasions to keep circled on their calendars that week.
What exactly happens when the clock reaches zero remains officially under wraps. The butterflies, however, appear to have already spoiled at least part of the surprise.
The 'Lucky Me Tour' Isn't Finished Yet
Despite wrapping its UK run, the Lucky Me tour itself still has plenty of passport stamps in its future. Duff is scheduled to return to the road on 20 October in Auckland before travelling through Australia, including stops in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.
After another break, she is due back onstage in January 2027 for a Canadian run beginning with two nights in Vancouver. Several Canadian dates follow before the current itinerary finishes with two Mexico City shows on 12 and 13 February.
Whatever the Lizzie McGuire actress has waiting behind that countdown would expand an already international comeback tour.
Not bad for someone whose last major concert tour concluded nearly two decades ago. This comeback truly is what dreams are made of.
