Kate Beckinsale's recent Instagram activity has taken another turn after the actress shared a pair of cryptic messages, including 'Congratulations, you won. I give up', before deleting them. Her Instagram account is now without visible posts, leaving no public explanation from the actress about what the messages meant.

The posts came just weeks after Beckinsale spoke publicly about her experience of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), describing the condition as deeply difficult and urging people to show greater kindness towards those who may be struggling privately. However, she has not said that her later Instagram messages were connected to PTSD, and there is no public confirmation of what prompted them.

Kate Beckinsale's Cryptic Instagram Posts

On 20 September, Beckinsale posted a black image bearing the single word 'bye' on her Instagram grid. She also shared a photograph of a rainbow over a road on her Instagram Stories, with the words: 'Congratulations, you won. I give up.'

Both posts were subsequently deleted. Reports also noted that Beckinsale had removed her previous Instagram posts, leaving her account without visible posts. Her Instagram bio was also changed to include a link to a BBC article about television presenter Caroline Flack, who died by suicide in 2020.

It remains unclear what Beckinsale was referring to in either message. Her representatives had not publicly explained the posts in the reports published about them.

Beckinsale Opens up About PTSD

The Instagram messages followed a candid discussion Beckinsale shared earlier in September about PTSD.

In a video posted on 2 September, the actress spoke about people living with non-military PTSD and explained how trauma can remain present even when someone appears to be functioning normally.

She said: 'Anything — smells, sounds, thoughts, feelings — can trigger them into a place that is actually like hell.'

Beckinsale also described PTSD as something that can be invisible to other people. She urged the public to be more compassionate because it is impossible to know what another person may be 'carrying, masking, dealing with day and night'.

She has since deleted that PTSD video from Instagram as well.

'The Loneliest People'

During the discussion, Beckinsale also addressed the isolation that can accompany PTSD.

She said people experiencing the condition can become highly skilled at masking what they are going through, while continuing to work, care for their families and appear outwardly well.

'Someone with PTSD is on their own with it, by definition,' she said, describing sufferers as 'the loneliest people'.

Her comments were framed as a wider discussion about PTSD and compassion, rather than an explanation of the Instagram messages she posted later in September.

Grief Following Her Mother's Death

Beckinsale has also spoken publicly about grief following the death of her mother, actress Judy Loe, in July 2025. She previously discussed the effect of bereavement on her appetite and weight, as well as the emotional impact of witnessing a loved one suffer.

In August, she wiped her Instagram feed following criticism of her appearance and addressed comments about her weight. Reports at the time noted that she had also spoken about having mast cell activation syndrome and the impact of grief.

Her Instagram Is Now Empty

Following the 20 September messages, Beckinsale's Instagram was again left without visible posts. Multiple reports confirmed that the 'bye' post and 'I give up' Story were deleted, while her account remained without the previous archive.

For now, Beckinsale has not publicly clarified what prompted the messages or whether they relate to her earlier comments about PTSD, grief or any other aspect of her personal life.

The connection between the two developments remains unconfirmed. What is established is the timing: Beckinsale discussed the difficulties of PTSD on 2 September, then shared the cryptic Instagram messages on 20 September before deleting them and leaving her account without visible posts.
