Kelly Osbourne has revealed that a photograph taken during a dress fitting before the 2026 Grammy Awards left her horrified when she realised just how thin she had become following the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne. The television personality said she barely recognised the person staring back at her in the photograph and described herself in brutally stark terms, saying she looked like the 'fucking Crypt Keeper'.
The shocking realisation came during a fitting in January, weeks before the Grammys on February 1, where Kelly attended alongside her family to honour her late father.
The Photo That Shocked Kelly
Kelly said she had no idea how much weight she had lost until she saw the photograph taken during the fitting. The image showed just how thin she had become, with Kelly saying she could see her spine and felt alarmed by how drastically her body had changed.
She explained that grief had affected her appetite, saying she simply could not feel hunger in the way she normally would. Her comments describe her own experience, rather than providing an independent medical explanation for her weight loss. There is also no basis for diagnosing her with an eating disorder or claiming that grief was medically proven to be the sole cause.
Why She Hid Behind A Wig
By the time Kelly arrived at the Grammys, she had taken steps to make her appearance less revealing. She said she wore a wig partly to cover her face because she did not want people to see how prominent her cheekbones had become.
Her team also selected clothes that would not emphasise how thin she looked. The styling choices were particularly significant because Kelly was already struggling with how different she felt from the person she had been before her father's death.

Ozzy's Death Changed Everything
Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, aged 76, just over six months before the Grammys. His death certificate listed out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease with autonomic dysfunction as joint causes of death.
For Kelly, the loss was devastating. She has described the profound grief that followed her father's death as something that changed her physically and emotionally. She later admitted that, despite wanting to support her mother Sharon and honour Ozzy at the Grammys, she was frightened and did not believe she was in the right condition to be there.
She Wasn't Sure She Should Go
Kelly has said she was scared at the Grammys and later questioned whether she should have attended at all. The ceremony included a major tribute to Ozzy, with Post Malone, Slash, Duff McKagan, Chad Smith and Andrew Watt performing 'War Pigs' as part of the show's tribute to the Black Sabbath frontman.
Kelly and Sharon were visibly emotional as the family gathered to honour Ozzy. But behind the public appearance, Kelly was dealing with the effects of a loss she said had fundamentally changed her.
Protecting Her Son From Her Grief
Despite struggling herself, Kelly said she tried to shield her three-year-old son, Sidney, from the worst of her pain. She described putting on a different persona around him, becoming 'Miss Fun Mom' rather than allowing him to see how deeply she was hurting. Kelly has also spoken about how grief changed her sense of identity, saying the person she was before Ozzy died no longer exists.
She is now developing a three-part documentary exploring grief and bereavement, using her own experience to examine what happens when someone loses a person who has been central to their life. For Kelly, the Grammy fitting photograph became a stark reminder of how deeply the loss had affected her. What she saw in that image was not simply a change in appearance, but a version of herself she said she barely recognised.
