Kim Kardashian has revealed she has five nannies helping care for her four children, but the reality star has previously insisted that she is still 'basically raising' them alone.

The Skims founder, 45, shares North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7, with ex-husband Kanye West and opened up about her approach to motherhood in a new interview with The Sunday Times Style.

Kardashian explained that she has five nannies, with one on duty while the other four rotate and one nanny present when her children are with her. However, she stressed that she remains closely involved in their day-to-day lives.

The billionaire businesswoman said she personally takes her children to and from school and makes a point of having dinner with them every night.

'I think I am an intermediate-strict parent,' Kardashian said, describing herself as 'extremely patient and loving.' She added that she still allows one of her children to sleep in her bed when they want and reads books with them every night.

The comments offer a glimpse into how Kardashian separates having substantial childcare assistance from the responsibilities she considers part of being a parent.

She Previously Spoke About Feeling Alone as a Mother

Kardashian's latest comments are particularly notable because she previously spoke about feeling alone in raising her four children, despite acknowledging that she has considerable help.

During a 2024 appearance on the What in the Winkler? podcast, the reality star said she had 'great support systems' but still felt that she was 'basically raising four kids by myself.'

She described the challenges of the middle of the night when her children would sleep in her bed, 'kicking' and 'crying'. Kardashian also acknowledged that people could point to her access to childcare and say she had the resources to hire nannies.

For Kardashian, however, the support does not appear to eliminate the feeling that she is ultimately responsible for her children.

Kardashian Juggles Motherhood With Her Business Empire

Alongside raising four children, Kardashian has built her Skims empire, continued appearing on The Kardashians and pursued acting and her legal career.

Her extensive professional commitments come alongside the childcare support she has in place, while her comments suggest she remains determined to be present for the routines she considers most important.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Co-Parent Four Children

Kardashian and West were married from 2014 until their divorce was finalised in 2022. They share joint legal custody of their four children.

The former couple have had a complicated co-parenting relationship in the years since their split, although Kardashian said in her latest interview that she and West have 'better communication' when it comes to decisions involving North. Their daughter has increasingly pursued a career of her own, including music, and Kardashian said she and West make sure they are aligned about the projects they approve for their eldest child.

Kardashian has also admitted that she sometimes has to 'hold back' North as she navigates her growing public profile. For the reality star, then, motherhood appears to involve more than simply being physically present for every childcare task.

While five nannies help manage the practical demands of raising four children, Kardashian says she remains the parent handling school runs, family dinners, nightly reading and decisions about their activities and projects.

Her comments offer a glimpse into the complicated reality of parenting with extensive resources: having help can make the logistics easier, but Kardashian maintains that it does not make her feel any less responsible for raising her children.
