Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro drew mixed reactions on Instagram after appearing in a sheer ensemble at Lagos Fashion Week 2026 on 31 October, with users debating the outfit's transparency and styling.
The look featured see-through fabric that made the clothing beneath it a focus of attention in photographs and video from the event. The available footage does not establish the precise textile composition or the designer of this particular outfit. A video posted by photographer @iwilliamsshots showed Ighodaro at the event, while the actress's appearance was also shared through her official Instagram account, @officialosas.
The discussion came during a busy fashion week for Ighodaro, who also appeared on the runway for Nigerian label DWL, closing its presentation.
Sheer Outfit Draws Attention at Lagos Fashion Week
The five-day programme ran from 28 October to 1 November 2026. Its opening day included a welcome event and industry activities, followed by the main runway presentations from 29 to 31 October at the LagosFW Tents at the Federal Palace Hotel on Victoria Island. Offsite presentations took place on 1 November.
This year's theme, 'CRAFTED: Heritage. Innovation. Circular Futures.', focused on the relationship between traditional African techniques, contemporary design and more responsible production. Designers explored textile treatments, construction and ways of reworking existing materials rather than limiting the programme to conventional runway collections.
Among the participating labels, AJANÉÉ presented Spring/Summer 2027 pieces incorporating reconstructed denim, repurposed fabrics and layered textures. DWL took a different direction, using red prominently in a collection that reworked women's office dressing. Ighodaro closed the DWL presentation, giving her a second prominent appearance during the week beyond the sheer outfit that circulated online.
The wider programme also included fashion business discussions and sustainability initiatives. Lagos Fashion Week's Green Access accelerator, in its eighth edition, supports emerging African designers working with reclaimed textiles, indigenous fibres and locally sourced materials. Its activities include material exploration, design reviews, craft workshops and business development support.
Instagram Users Debate the Outfit
Individual Instagram users disagreed over Ighodaro's sheer styling. One commenter wrote, 'But why women don't like wearing pants these days and calling it fashion.' Another asked, 'What's going on here..she no wear kpata?' The latter appeared to question whether the actress was wearing underwear, but did not establish what she wore beneath the ensemble.
Other users praised her appearance. One wrote, 'Do you want to kee yourself with gorgeousness?? Damnit!!' Another commented, 'Osas always looking stunning.' A third wrote, 'This woman is breathtaking, I saw her in person.'
One user joked, 'If you zoomed this post, heaven is very far from you,' while complimenting Ighodaro. The comments reflected a mix of criticism and praise, rather than a uniform response to the outfit.
Actress Has a Visible Place in Lagos Fashion
Ighodaro is known for film and television work, including Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story and Man of God, but she has also been a prominent presence at Nigerian fashion and entertainment events. Her runway appearance for DWL placed her directly in the designer presentations rather than solely among the guests attending fashion week.
At the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards, Ighodaro wore two custom creations by designer Veekee James. One was a crimson sculptural gown with an architectural collar; the other was a silver ballgown made using hundreds of repurposed steel-wool sponges, with an extended train. Those earlier outfits demonstrated the elaborate construction that has featured in her public fashion appearances.
The contrast between her constructed awards-show gowns and the transparent Lagos Fashion Week look gave audiences different examples of her styling within the same year. The event itself brought together established designers, newer labels and industry participants across its five-day schedule.
Ighodaro had not publicly responded to the criticism of the sheer ensemble as of 2 November 2026.
