Pharrell Williams has taken Louis Vuitton's famous trunk-making tradition into a bold new world with the High Trunks collection for Men's Spring-Summer 2027. First shown in Paris on 23 June 2026, the collection turns the classic Courrier Lozine 110 into an ocean-inspired work of art using leather, mother-of-pearl, acrylic and chrome.

The striking trunks fit into Pharrell's wider vision for the season, which draws heavily from surfing, the sea and life along the coast. Among the most eye-catching designs is the Chrome Wave, which gives the familiar Louis Vuitton Monogram a shiny, futuristic look while keeping the house's travel history at its core.

Pharrell Gives the Classic Louis Vuitton Trunk a Sea-Inspired Makeover

The High Trunks collection starts with the Courrier Lozine 110, a large Louis Vuitton trunk given several new finishes for the Spring-Summer 2027 collection. Instead of treating the trunk as a simple travel piece, Pharrell uses it to explore new materials and shapes. The result is a group of statement pieces that look closer to art objects than traditional luggage.

The ocean theme is not limited to the trunks themselves, as it runs through the entire men's collection. Louis Vuitton's Paris show used a huge wave as part of the set, while models walked across sand in looks inspired by surfing, travel and life by the sea. The clothes and accessories brought together relaxed tailoring, sea colours, shells, beads and other details linked to the coast.

That idea gives the new trunks a clear place in Pharrell's latest Louis Vuitton story. The designs connect the brand's long history of making travel trunks with a much more modern view of what a luxury trunk can be. They also show how the familiar Monogram can change without losing its link to Louis Vuitton's past.

The Chrome Wave Trunk Brings a Futuristic Twist

One of the boldest pieces is the Chrome Wave Courrier Lozine 110, which turns the trunk's surface into a moving-looking silver wave. Its clear acrylic panels are shaped into wave forms before the Monogram is added with laser engraving. Two layers of silver chrome then create a bright, mirror-like finish that gives the piece its futuristic look.

The chrome surface also hides colourful Monogram flowers underneath, adding flashes of colour when the piece is viewed more closely. This detail may explain the rainbow-like effect seen in images of the trunk, although the official description presents the design as a chrome wave rather than simply a rainbow Monogram. Inside, the modern outer shell is paired with a more traditional cream VVN leather interior.

The mix of old and new is what makes the design stand out. A trunk linked to Louis Vuitton's travel history is covered in a shiny surface that looks more at home in a futuristic setting. It is a sharp example of how Pharrell is using familiar Louis Vuitton codes while pushing them into unexpected materials and forms.

A New Chapter for Louis Vuitton's Monogram

The High Trunks also build on Louis Vuitton's long history of changing its famous Monogram design. The house points to a 1905 Monogram patent that allowed changes in colour, size and material, giving the brand room to keep reworking the pattern over time. Pharrell's new trunks take that idea into modern craft, turning the Monogram into something built with leather, shell and chrome.

That makes the collection more than a flashy update to an old Louis Vuitton shape. Each trunk uses a different material and method while keeping the basic travel form recognisable. The contrast between traditional trunk-making and bold new surfaces gives the pieces their strong visual impact.

For Pharrell, the approach fits naturally with the mood of the Spring-Summer 2027 collection. The season mixes dandy style with surfing culture, pairing polished fashion with the relaxed feel of the coast. With its waves, shells, pearls and reflective chrome, the High Trunks collection turns that same idea into some of Louis Vuitton's most striking travel objects yet.
