Selma Blair's 2022 memoir recounts three unusual encounters in which she bit fellow celebrities Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Seth MacFarlane. The stories have gained renewed relevance following the actress's arrest after an alleged incident aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York on Sunday, 11 October.
Blair described the celebrity encounters in Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up, which includes a chapter titled 'Bite Me'. The accounts detail awkward social interactions in which she bit people she admired or had only recently met. They remain separate from the allegations surrounding the flight, for which Blair has pleaded not guilty to two state assault charges.

The Kate Moss Encounter
Blair's recollection of biting Kate Moss stands out because the supermodel bit her back. In her memoir, Blair described biting Moss's finger after the pair had become friendly. When Blair bit her again, Moss bit Blair's thumb in return.
The encounter gave Blair a different perspective on her own behaviour. She recalled feeling ashamed after experiencing what it was like to be bitten. Moss's response appeared to make Blair more aware of the potential consequences of her actions.
Other Celebrity Incidents
Blair also recalled biting Sienna Miller on the arm when they met at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. The encounter took place around the time of Blair's 2006 divorce from musician Ahmet Zappa.
According to Blair, she was pleased to meet Miller but reacted unexpectedly. She grabbed Miller's arm and bit it, describing the gesture as being like biting an apple. Blair recalled being aghast at her own behaviour. She also wrote that Miller did not shame her for the incident, a response she appreciated.
The third incident involved Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy. Blair recounted biting his hand during a nightclub gathering in Las Vegas after actor Seth Green introduced them.
The gathering had been organised by Scarlett Johansson, according to accounts of Blair's memoir. Blair explained that she admired MacFarlane but struggled to contribute to the conversation. She recalled biting his hand and described his reaction as an expression of pain. Blair also said she had not broken the skin and remembered feeling ashamed soon after.
Selma Blair allegedly bit a flight attendant and kicked an officer, and the legal excuse is "missed meds and exhaustion."

Blair's Recent Arrest
On Sunday, 11 October, Blair was arrested after an alleged incident aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York. The aircraft landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport, where Blair was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation.
Authorities said two flight attendants reported injuries, and one was taken to the hospital. Blair subsequently pleaded not guilty to two state assault charges involving allegations that she kicked a police officer and a nurse. She also faces separate federal allegations connected to the in-flight incident. These remain allegations, not findings of guilt.
Blair's attorney attributed her behaviour to a medical emergency, citing missed medication, exhaustion and a blow to the head as factors that allegedly left her confused and disoriented. Her representative also said she received immediate medical attention after landing and was in a stable condition.
