Adam Levine was 'totally and completely and eternally blown away' by wife Behati Prinsloo's latest Victoria's Secret runway appearance. Unfortunately for him, the internet's memory appears to be just as eternal.
Prinsloo returned for her 13th Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Los Angeles on Sunday, 18 October, joining a star-studded runway that included fellow veterans and returning Angels. The 38-year-old model strutted down the catwalk years after becoming one of the lingerie brand's most famous faces.
Levine celebrated his wife's return by posting a backstage photograph of Prinsloo on Instagram alongside the caption: 'totally and completely and eternally blown away.' The romantic tribute earned plenty of love. Elsewhere on social media, some users heard 'eternally' and went straight to the 2022 cheating archives involving Maroon 5 frontman and influencer Sumner Stroh.
Adam Levine's Compliment Gets an Uncomfortable Throwback
'Eternally 😂😂😂😂😂,' one commenter joked beneath a Page Six post about Levine's tribute. Others were less subtle. 'Honey we still didn't forget,' one wrote, while another asked: 'Why did he cheat then?'
Then came the comment that dragged one particularly infamous detail back into the conversation: 'Remember when he wanted to name his unborn child after his mistress? I remember.'
The reference dates back to September 2022, when Instagram model Sumner Stroh alleged that she and Levine had been involved in an affair for about a year. Stroh shared screenshots of purported Instagram messages between the two, including one in which Levine appeared to ask whether he could name his and Prinsloo's unborn baby 'Sumner' if the child were a boy.
Levine Denied an Affair but Admitted He 'Crossed the Line'
Levine denied Stroh's claim that they had an affair. However, the Maroon 5 singer acknowledged communicating with another woman in what he described as a flirtatious manner and admitted that he had 'crossed the line during a regrettable period' of his life. He also said some interactions had become inappropriate.
Levine called his behaviour poor judgement and said risking his family was the 'greatest mistake' he could make. He vowed at the time not to repeat it and said he and Prinsloo would get through the scandal together.
As for the now-infamous Sumner baby-name message, Stroh displayed what she said was a screenshot of Levine asking the question. Levine's public statement did not specifically address that allegation. The couple later welcomed their third child, a son, in January 2023. They have not publicly disclosed his name.
The Internet Still Has Receipts Four Years Later
Whatever Prinsloo and Levine have resolved privately, parts of the internet clearly haven't closed the case. 'And he STILL cheated!' one commenter wrote, while another added: 'But you still did her dirty.'
One particularly brutal response turned Prinsloo's modelling career into the punchline surrounding cheating men: 'You could literally be a Victoria's Secret runway model, and he'll still want someone else.'
Surprisingly, not everyone joined the pile-on. Levine's original Instagram post attracted plenty of supportive comments celebrating Prinsloo, including 'You two are beautiful together' and 'Unicorns are Real.'
Prinsloo and Levine married in 2014 and remain together more than four years after the scandal. Levine may have intended his latest Instagram post to celebrate his wife's runway return, but the web-wide commentary delivered a reminder of its own: the internet might forgive, but screenshots have an eternal shelf life.
