Becca Bloom
Becca Bloom gets called out by a social media user alleging that her wealth is 'fake' @beccaxbloom/Instagram

Becca Bloom built an enormous following by making extraordinary wealth look almost effortless. Now, however, the queen of RichTok is facing renewed scrutiny over just how much of the ultra-luxurious life appearing on screen is actually hers.

With a wardrobe packed with designer labels, luxury holidays and lavish purchases, Bloom has made a name for herself by documenting finer things in life. That was until her latest TikTok upload caught the netizens' attention, igniting debate over her apparent wealth and social status.

Who Is Becca Bloom?

Becca Bloom, whose real name is Rebecca Ma, has become one of social media's most recognisable luxury influencers through a voice that speaks softly and a wallet that spends hard. Her vlogs chronicle designer fashion, fine jewellery, pampered pets, and the sort of shopping trips where the merchandise occasionally has wings and fuel requirements.

She is often seen with Paris and Seychelles as a backdrop, striking a pose in Valentino or YSL. Paired with her signature mellow narration, her videos offer a soothing take on conspicuous consumption – polished enough to lull you to sleep, yet wealthy enough to make even a trust fund baby feel broke.

Her latest viral reel involving aeroplane shopping made her previous content look tame. Unfortunately for Bloom, internet detectives activated their eagle eyes to debunk anything that may be rich in fiction.

Becca Bloom's Private Jet Shopping Trip Raises Eyebrows

Bloom recently shared footage on TikTok of herself accompanying her parents as her father shopped for an aircraft as an anniversary gift for her mother.

The family toured aircraft interiors and discussed potential customisations, including accessibility considerations following Bloom's mother's hip surgery.

However, content creator @daadisnacks later questioned parts of the story, pointing to details he believed suggested the outing overstated their wealth. On TikTok, he kickstarted his analysis with a daring opener: 'By the end of this video, if I haven't convinced you that influencers continue to be some of the sketchiest people alive. I will shave my head live on camera tomorrow evening.'

That's a bold promise for someone with a healthy head of curly hair, but his claims were widely met with agreement in the comment section.

'Anna Delvey literally proved that enough confidence can get you a long ways,' shared one TikTok user, while another delved deeper, saying: 'I think the biggest tell is mega rich people don't really want to be influencers, they want privacy. Posting your location and layouts of the places you stay would be a huuuge security issue for a billionaire heiress 😂'.

Levelling the playing field, not everyone was on board with the criticism, as a few countered with insights like, 'So she's not a billionaire but she's a millionaire ?? 😭😭 sis still has money'.

One particular observation concerned Flexjet branding reportedly visible around the trip. Flexjet specialises in fractional aircraft ownership, leasing and private aviation services, leading critics to question whether viewers were witnessing an aircraft-purchasing appointment or simply an experience involving one of the company's planes.

Critics Question the Gulfstream G650ER Story

Then there is the plane itself. Bloom's content reportedly referenced customising a Gulfstream G650ER.

Online critics pointed out one inconvenient aviation detail: production of new G650-series aircraft has ended as Gulfstream moves towards newer models including the G700 and G800.

That does not prove Bloom's family could not purchase, refurbish, or otherwise acquire a G650ER. It does, however, complicate the idea that somebody could simply order a brand-new customised one from the factory. This is precisely why the detail sent sceptics running towards their keyboards.

One Reddit commenter claiming experience with Gulfstream put it rather bluntly: 'They're not customizing [anything] on a plane that isn't even being made anymore. Remodel? Maybe.'

Reddit Knows Becca Bloom Is Rich, Just Maybe Not That Rich

Interestingly, even many of Bloom's critics are not arguing that she lacks money. It is quite the opposite. She grew up in affluent Atherton, California, has openly showcased expensive possessions and experiences, and has built a lucrative online career around luxury.

The argument bubbling across Reddit is more specific: some viewers believe Bloom may be very wealthy while portraying herself as spectacularly wealthier.

'She's certainly rich but magnitudes off from what she portrays,' one critic claimed.

Another wrote: 'I don't doubt the girl has money, but she doesn't have THAT kind of money.'

Users have also scrutinised apparent designer bags, repeated private-flight footage and areas appearing in her videos. Some claimed spaces presented as part of her lifestyle were actually communal areas within her apartment building.

Those remain online allegations rather than proof that Bloom has deliberately fabricated her wealth. Regardless, the suspicion has produced one wonderfully strange internet question: how rich does somebody need to be before pretending to be richer becomes unnecessary?

When RichTok Becomes a Game of Spot the Receipt

Bloom's appeal has never been that she has money. Plenty of people do.

Her content sells access to a specific fantasy where spectacular wealth is so normal that shopping for diamonds, couture, and potentially private jets can be narrated with approximately the same urgency as a grocery haul vlog.

Once audiences begin questioning the authenticity of individual pieces of that fantasy, however, every Birkin, ballroom and business-class seat suddenly becomes evidence. For now, Becca Bloom has certainly not been exposed as poor.

If anything, the internet appears convinced she is rich. The argument is over whether RichTok's reigning queen has occasionally added a few imaginary zeroes for dramatic effect.

And as it seems, when content on RichTok seems 'too rich', viewers eventually ask for receipts.
