A stunning makeup collection covered in famous works of art has beauty fans asking one big question: is Bobbi Brown teaming up with The Metropolitan Museum of Art? Images of colourful lipsticks, eyeshadows and face products have spread online, making the reported collaboration look almost too good to be true.
The buzz grew after X account @itgirlnenergysim shared the images on Tuesday, 18 August, describing them as a Bobbi Brown and The Met collaboration. But with the pictures now drawing attention, the bigger question is whether the collection is an official launch or an early look at products that have yet to be formally announced.
Bobbi Brown Already Has Strong Met Gala Links
There is a real reason the idea may feel believable. Bobbi Brown has a long connection to the Met Gala through makeup artists who have used the brand's products on celebrities attending the event.
At the 2019 Met Gala, makeup artist Emily Cheng created Yara Shahidi's look using Bobbi Brown products. Cheng used Bobbi Brown foundation, powder and Crushed Liquid Lipstick for Shahidi's makeup.
The brand was also part of the beauty story at the 2024 Met Gala. Makeup artist Carola Gonzalez used Bobbi Brown products for Kerry Washington, including the Rosey Nudes Eyeshadow Palette, Pot Rouge and Powder Blush.
Bobbi Brown products appeared again at the 2025 Met Gala. Makeup artist Vincent Oquendo used Bobbi Brown Cosmetics products for Regina King, including the Vitamin Enriched Face Base, Weightless Skin Foundation and Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow Stick.
The Met Is No Stranger to Beauty Collaborations
The idea of The Met working with a beauty brand is not unusual. The museum has worked with beauty companies before, including a partnership with Sulwhasoo announced in 2023 that supported museum programs and activities.
The Met Store has also released special-edition products with fashion and design names. For the 2026 Costume Art exhibition, Vogue reported special products from brands and designers including Tory Burch, Thom Browne, Michael Kors and John Derian, along with fragrances by Jean Paul Gaultier.
Still, that history does not confirm the Bobbi Brown products shown in the viral image.
The Timing Makes the Rumour Interesting
The rumour also arrives during a major year for The Met. Its 2026 Costume Institute exhibition, Costume Art, explores the relationship between clothing, the body and art through pieces from across the museum's collection. The 2026 Met Gala took place on 4 May, with 'Fashion Is Art' as its dress code. The exhibition opened at The Met on 10 May and will remain on view through 10 January 2027.
That art-focused season could make a museum-inspired makeup collection feel like a natural fit. But there is currently no reliable evidence showing that Costume Art is connected to the Bobbi Brown products pictured in the social media post.
Is Bobbi Brown x The Met Really Happening?
For now, the safest answer is that it is unconfirmed. The viral post has sparked interest in what looks like a Bobbi Brown and The Met makeup collection, but neither organisation has publicly confirmed the project in the sources checked for this report.

The products shown in the image should therefore be treated as unconfirmed designs or a concept until Bobbi Brown or The Met provides an official announcement. Beauty fans may have to wait for a product page, press release or official social media post before knowing whether the colourful collection will actually become available.
