Britney Spears has shared a rare photo with her sons during a family outing to Dollywood, offering a glimpse of time spent with Sean Preston and Jayden James Federline following years of reported strain in their relationship. The 44-year-old pop star shared the photo on Instagram on Wednesday, 7 October, showing herself standing between Sean, 21, and Jayden, 20, in front of the Dollywood sign in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Spears wore sunglasses and a mask over the lower half of her face, while both sons appeared beside her in casual clothing. She also shared videos from inside the theme park, including footage of herself enjoying the rides, and described the day as a 'family outing'.
A Rare Family Outing
Spears appeared enthusiastic about visiting the theme park, which was founded by the late country music star Dolly Parton. In the caption accompanying the photograph, she said she did not know the attraction existed and described it as 'so incredibly cool and exciting'. She also commented on the heat and her oversized skirt before calling the trip a family outing and describing Dollywood as 'absolutely adorable'.
The singer also shared videos from inside the park, including footage of herself enjoying rides. The posts offered an unusually personal look at time spent with both of her sons, whom she shares with former husband Kevin Federline.
The outing comes after a period in which Spears' relationship with Sean and Jayden was publicly described as strained. However, recent developments suggest that the family relationship has been improving.
Federline said in November 2025 that his sons loved their mother and were trying to rebuild their relationship with her. He said he had always wanted them to have a connection with Spears like the relationship he has with his own mother.
Healing the Broken Bonds
More recent public signs of contact between Spears and her sons have also emerged. In June, Sean and Jayden made their joint runway debut during Paris Fashion Week. Jayden later told Vogue that Spears had supported them ahead of the appearance by sending flowers to their hotel and repeatedly calling and texting them.
Spears also publicly celebrated both sons' birthdays in September. She shared photographs of Jayden and described him affectionately before posting a separate tribute to Sean. The posts came as the singer continued to document aspects of her relationship with her adult children on social media.
The Dollywood visit follows a difficult year for Spears. She was arrested in March on suspicion of driving under the influence. She later entered a treatment facility voluntarily and subsequently pleaded guilty to a lesser reckless driving charge. She was ordered to complete an alcohol education programme and received a period of informal probation.
Spears' sons were reported to have supported their mother around the time of the incident. Page Six reported that the brothers had been spending time with Spears following her arrest and treatment.
The Dollywood Connection
The Dollywood outing also has a connection to Parton, who died at 80 on 25 August 2026. Parton had publicly expressed support for Spears during the singer's conservatorship battle. In 2021, Parton described Spears as a 'wonderful artist' and said she wished her well.
Spears' conservatorship, which had controlled major aspects of her personal and financial affairs for nearly 14 years, ended in November 2021. Her relationship with her sons has remained a recurring subject of public attention since then, although much of the family's private circumstances have not been publicly confirmed.
The latest photographs do not provide details about the current state of Spears' relationship with her sons beyond showing that the three spent time together at Dollywood. For Spears, the trip offered a rare opportunity to share a family moment without focusing on her music career or legal history.
