Few celebrities have navigated their romantic lives so publicly or honestly as Cara Delevingne. Over the past decade, the British supermodel and actress has moved from quietly rumoured flights to bold, candid declarations of love. Her willingness to speak frankly about her sexuality and her partners has made her something of an icon for the LGBTQ+ community and the fashion and entertainment industry.

Feeling like an 'Undercover Lesbian' at Victoria's Secret

In a podcast episode of Call Her Daddy, Delevingne revisited one of the most iconic chapters of her modelling career with a strikingly different perspective.

Speaking about her debut at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2012, she described the experience as deeply disorienting. She had not yet publicly acknowledged her sexuality, and walking that runway while still grappling with her identity left her feeling like a woman playing a role she had not yet earned the right to step out of.

'I felt like I was an undercover lesbian', the supermodel shared with host Alex Cooper. Growing up, she wasn't close to femininity, so strutting in stilettos and a miniskirt felt more like a theatrical exercise than an authentic expression of self. The show's entire premise, which is the celebration of a very specific ideal of womanhood, exacerbated that internal confusion.

A Timeline of Cara Delevingne's Relationships

In early 2014, the speculation became more concrete when Cara was photographed alongside Fast & Furious actress Michelle Rodriguez at sporting events and on holiday. The brief but highly publicised romance lasted only a few months, yet it was the first time Delevingne found herself at the centre of a confirmed same-sex relationship story.

Later that same year, she began dating musician Anne Clark, known professionally as St. Vincent. Their relationship ran from late 2014 until September 2016. For the first time, Cara spoke openly in major publications about being deeply in love with a woman.

Between late 2017 and early 2018, Cara was heavily linked to Paris Jackson, with the pair frequently photographed holding hands and sharing moments in Los Angeles. Neither officially confirmed a relationship, leaving the connection in the ambiguous space between friendship and romance.

By 2018, however, she had entered into her most public relationship to date: a two-year partnership with Pretty Little Liars actress Ashley Benson. The couple appeared regularly on each other's social media, attended high-profile industry events as a pair, and made little effort to keep their relationship out of the spotlight. They eventually parted ways in 2020.

Following the split, rumours circulated that Cara had grown close to singer Halsey, with speculations fuelled in part by the curious coincidence that their respective exes had begun dating one another at precisely the same time. The connection was never formally confirmed.

Who is Cara Delevingne's Current Partner?

Since then, Delevigne's story has taken a turn. She is now in a serious relationship with Leah Mason, a British musician who performs under the stage name Minke. The two first crossed paths as children at boarding school, but lost touch for twelve years.

They unexpectedly rekindled at an Alanis Morissette concert in 2022. Cara has been candid about the depth of this relationship, describing Minke as a foundational part of her ongoing journey towards healing and sobriety. The couple hope to start building a family one day.

After years of headlines and heartbreak, it appears that Delevingne may have found, in a childhood friend, something genuinely lasting.
