Cuomo recently shared his thoughts on the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists of America. He said the group was now more open about its 'fringe agenda' and claimed that more Americans were becoming aware of its plans.

'The difference between now and a year ago is that the @DemSocialists are emboldened and open about their fringe agenda,' Cuomo wrote. He then pointed to ideas he said were linked to the group, including changes involving the presidency, the Supreme Court, borders and prisons.
Cuomo also warned that the Democratic Party could lose members if Democratic Socialists were allowed to set its agenda. 'Democrats have always been a big tent party, but if you let the @DemSocialists drive the agenda, others will leave in droves,' he wrote.
Ricci did not respond by debating those political claims. Instead, she turned the focus back to Cuomo's own past and the sexual harassment findings that led to his resignation as New York governor.
Ricci Brings up Cuomo's Sexual Harassment Scandal
'Weren't you publicly disgraced and revealed to be a disgusting sexual predator? You can sit all the way down,' Ricci wrote in response to Cuomo. Her comment was direct and appeared to challenge his decision to attack other politicians while facing his own troubled record.
The actress was referring to the sexual harassment scandal that ended Cuomo's time as governor. A federal investigation later found that 13 women who worked for the state had been subjected to a sexually hostile work environment during an eight-year period.
Federal officials said Cuomo had repeatedly subjected female employees to unwanted sexual contact, sexual comments, comments about their looks and other forms of conduct. The findings also said senior members of his staff knew about the behaviour and that four women who complained faced retaliation.
Cuomo Has Denied Sexual Harassment Claims
Cuomo has denied wrongdoing and has continued to challenge the findings against him. His lawyer previously said that he did not sexually harass anyone and argued that the federal investigation was based heavily on an earlier state investigation.
The former governor's resignation came in August 2021 after a state investigation found that he had sexually harassed 11 women. Cuomo denied the allegations and criticised the investigation, while prosecutors did not bring criminal charges against him over the claims.
The later federal settlement added to the findings about Cuomo's conduct but did not amount to a criminal conviction. The agreement also stated that it did not constitute an adjudication or finding on the merits of the case, making it important to separate the federal findings from a criminal court ruling.
Cuomo's Political Attacks Draw Fresh Attention
Cuomo's latest remarks come as Democratic Socialists continue to gain attention in US politics. The movement has become more visible in recent years, with candidates linked to the group winning support in several races and pushing the Democratic Party further to the left.
The debate has also focused on whether the party should move towards more progressive policies or appeal more strongly to moderate voters. Cuomo's comments reflect the argument that a stronger socialist influence could push some Democrats away.
His criticism has now been met with Ricci's very different response. Rather than discussing the party's platform, she used her reply to remind Cuomo's audience of the serious accusations and federal findings connected to his time as governor.
