Ireland Baldwin has spoken out about celebrity blogger Perez Hilton following his hospitalisation, accusing him of sexualising her when she was young, commenting on her body as a child and repeatedly humiliating her family.
The model and daughter of actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger made the claims on Instagram Stories on 5 August, after Hilton was taken for medical care following a distressing livestream from his Miami home.
Baldwin, 30, did not soften her assessment of their history, writing, 'Perez Hilton has publicly humiliated my family for years.' Yet her response also drew a line between condemning his past behaviour and responding to his current crisis, saying Hilton's three children deserved to have a healthy father and expressing hope that he gets the help he needs.
Baldwin Says the Attacks Began When She Was a Child
Baldwin alleged that Hilton 'sexualized me from a young age' and commented on her weight and body while she was still a child. She also accused him of making offensive remarks about members of her family and creating sexually explicit alterations of photographs involving her mother and friends.
Baldwin described the behaviour as 'unforgivable', placing her reaction to Hilton's current situation within a much longer history between the celebrity blogger and the Baldwin family.
That history stretches back to Baldwin's childhood, when her parents' turbulent divorce and custody battle became public entertainment. In 2007, a private voicemail Alec Baldwin left for his then 11-year-old daughter was leaked, exposing Ireland to intense scrutiny while she was still a child.
Hilton's celebrity gossip platform was part of the wider online culture that repeatedly turned the Baldwin family's private conflicts into content.
Baldwin later entered the public eye in her own right, beginning a modelling career in 2013 and appearing in campaigns and fashion editorials before increasingly focusing on writing and motherhood.
Her Instagram biography now identifies her as a screenwriter and mother, while also openly referencing her experiences navigating obsessive-compulsive disorder and health anxiety. Her latest comments therefore come from someone who has spent much of her life dealing with public attention that began long before she chose a career in entertainment.
Hilton Had Recently Apologised for His Past
Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, built his profile during the 2000s through an influential celebrity gossip blog known for provocative commentary and altered paparazzi photographs.
In April 2026, however, he publicly revisited his past conduct after a serious health crisis, writing on Instagram that he carried 'deep shame and regret'. He also apologised for people he had hurt and spoke about reconnecting with his Catholic faith.
The apology did not erase Baldwin's account of what she experienced growing up. Her statement instead highlighted the lasting impact that celebrity coverage can have on children who become public figures through their famous parents. At the same time, she stopped short of wishing further harm on Hilton, writing, 'But his children deserve better and a healthy father.'
His Family Is Asking for Privacy
Hilton's family confirmed on 5 August that he was receiving medical care following the livestream incident. In a further statement on 6 August, the family described what happened as a 'severe mental health crisis' and said its immediate priority was helping his children recover from what they had experienced. The family has asked the public, content creators and photographers to give the children privacy while Hilton continues to receive care.
That concern for Hilton's children is also where Baldwin ultimately landed despite the severity of her allegations about his past treatment of her. Her statement neither withdrew those accusations nor framed the current crisis as absolution. Instead, she acknowledged the harm she says she experienced while expressing hope that Hilton can recover for the family now depending on him.
