Dafne Keen has reflected on the unsettling attention she received as a child actor during an appearance on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast. The Logan star recalled strangers arriving at her Madrid school with cameras and sending unusual packages to her home.

When asked whether the sudden attention after Logan had frightened her, Keen described several disturbing encounters with male fans. These included unwanted gifts and 'very creepy' men following her.

'I experienced quite a lot of very creepy, paedophile men who would send letters and Bibles to my house and music boxes, and would follow me to school,' she said. 'It can get creepy, but also I can't really complain too much because I have met a lot of really amazing people who have also really loved the work.'

Reflecting on fan culture in major franchises, Keen noted that being a young woman in male-dominated entertainment spaces made her more vulnerable to unwanted attention.

'Inevitably as a girl, and even more so someone in such a kind of male-dominated sphere like Marvel or in my experience, also Star Wars, there are bound to be a lot of male fans,' she explained.

Grandmother's Advice on Fame

Despite these encounters, Keen distinguished between the behaviour of certain individuals and the broader fan community. She shared advice from her grandmother that helped her put these experiences into perspective.

'I live by this thing that my grandma told me as a child: "A bad person is like someone with a drum in a waiting room. They're just really loud. But there's another 30 people who are being perfectly quiet and respectful",' she said.

'There might be one weirdo, but before that weirdo, I've met 90 lovely people who have come to just like chat and have a nice time. So why would I negate the whole experience over one person being odd?'

From Logan to Marvel

Keen rose to international prominence playing Laura, also known as X-23, opposite Hugh Jackman in Logan (2017). She was approximately 11 years old during filming, which introduced her to a much wider audience.

She later starred as Lyra Belacqua in the television adaptation of His Dark Materials and joined the Star Wars universe as Jecki Lon in The Acolyte (2024). In 2024, she reprised her role as Laura in Deadpool & Wolverine, reuniting with Jackman. Her career also includes projects such as Ana and Whistle.

A 12-Year Stalking Campaign

A separate case involved CSI: Miami actress Eva LaRue and her family, who endured a 12-year stalking campaign that began in 2007. The perpetrator, James David Rogers, sent threatening letters and later targeted her daughter, Kaya Callahan.

In 2019, Rogers impersonated Kaya's father in calls to her school and attempted to have her picked up. He also sent Kaya a letter identifying himself as the family's long-time stalker, warning, 'Now I have my eye on you too'.

The family relocated several times until investigators identified Rogers through DNA evidence. LaRue later described the lasting impact, stating, 'It really is an absolute rewiring of how you move through your life'.

Rogers pleaded guilty to stalking and threatening communications in 2022. He was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison on 8 September 2022.
