Big, ugly, and already giving people hand cramps. That is how some fans have greeted the Fenty Beauty x Casetify phone case before it has even gone on sale. The $42 (£32) design can hold the Invisimatte Blotting Powder and a full-sized Gloss Bomb on the back, and replies are packed with complaints about its size.

The Rhode lip case, which holds a single lip product, went viral first, and Fenty has gone one product further. Followers have quickly compared the two, joked about the result, and, in some cases, questioned the brand itself.

Is the Fenty Beauty Casetify Phone Case Too Bulky?

Size is the main complaint. One commenter said it 'would be so chunky and bulky,' while another wrote: 'Sorry it's big and ugly, and our hands are already cramping.' Two products on the back add visible depth compared with a slim case.

The compact and the gloss both sit on the back of the case. Casetify is known for its Impact cases, which retailer listings describe as drop-tested, while Fenty is known for makeup. Followers have noticed the pairing.

Then came the joke that spread furthest: 'Should've made it charge the phone and called it "powder bank.'" The commenter wanted the case to do more than store lip gloss.

Fenty x Casetify vs Rhode Lip Case

Rhode's case launched at $35 (£26.50), and is now listed at $38 (£29) for the case alone on Rhode's official store. It holds one lip product, while Fenty's costs $42 and holds two.

If the powder and gloss are bought separately, the maths gets steep. A standard Gloss Bomb is $23 (£17), and the Invisimatte powder lists at $39 (£29), so the full set comes to $104 (£79) at list price. That is nearly three times the cost of Rhode's case on its own.

At launch, Rhode's case could also be bought with a lip tint or treatment for an extra $16 (£12), which made that bundle $51 (£39). If the case is sold alone, shoppers who already own both Fenty products would only pay $42.

Others focused on what happens when the phone is dropped. One commenter wrote, 'Then you drop your phone, and everything clatters in 15 different directions,' while another said, 'that Invisamatte gonna break as soon as you take it out.' A third asked what many have been thinking: 'What happened to just putting your makeup in your purse?'

A Case for Comparisons

The case is listed as 'coming soon' on the website, so Fenty x Casetify hasn't announced a release date yet.

It lands while another similarity conversation involving Fenty is still fresh. When Glow Recipe and Huda Beauty showed hydrogel eye patches in twist-to-slice packaging like Fenty Skin's, Fenty Skin recreated the Spider-Man pointing meme with four similar containers.

The patches in question are Fenty Skin's Dew N Plump Fresh-Sliced Hydrogel Eye Patches, teased on 17 September at $42 (£31), and Huda Beauty founder Huda Kattan joined the comments to call the post 'too good.' Reports found no verified evidence that any of the brands copied one another, and noted that Wonder Bath had sold a sliced serum in the same format since July.

The Fenty Beauty x Casetify phone case isn't even out yet, and people have already started comparing it. More details are expected once it goes live on Fenty's website.
