Hermès is bringing its luxury presence to Williamsburg with its first permanent Brooklyn boutique @LegendaryLade/X

Williamsburg is about to get a major luxury upgrade, with French fashion house Hermès set to open its first permanent Brooklyn boutique in September 2026, bringing its famous leather goods, fashion and accessories to one of New York City's busiest and most popular shopping areas.

The new Hermès Williamsburg boutique will be located at 111-115 North 6th Street, near Berry Street, marking a major step for the luxury brand as it turns a plan first announced several years ago into a permanent home in Brooklyn.

Hermès Is Finally Making Williamsburg Permanent

Hermès has already tested the Williamsburg market. The brand opened a long-term pop-up at 91 North 6th Street in 2023 while work was being done on its planned permanent store nearby.

That temporary store has now closed, but the brand is not leaving the neighbourhood behind. In a LinkedIn post, a former Hermès Williamsburg employee said the brand would return to the area with its permanent store in fall 2026.

More recently, Hermès itself has given the September date more weight through its hiring activity. Current Hermès job listings for sales, stock and management roles state that the Williamsburg boutique will open in September 2026.

A New Home at 111 North 6th Street

The new boutique is being built at 111-115 North 6th Street, on the corner of North 6th Street and Berry Street. Empire State Realty Trust, which owns the property, describes it as a custom two-storey Brooklyn flagship with more than 11,500 square feet of space.

Earlier reports from New York YIMBY described the Hermès retail space as an 8,500-square-foot structure. The building includes large windows, high ceilings and a wraparound street frontage that gives the store a strong presence on the corner.

The building has also drawn attention for its design. Its brick exterior uses details that look inspired by older Williamsburg buildings, while large modern windows give the new store a very different look from the area's historic structures.

Williamsburg's Luxury Retail Boom

Hermès is not entering an empty retail market. The area around North 6th Street has become home to a growing list of fashion, beauty and lifestyle names, helping turn Williamsburg into one of Brooklyn's key shopping areas.

Empire State Realty Trust lists brands including Chanel, Byredo, Buck Mason, D.S. & Durga, Warby Parker and Glossier among retailers in the wider North Sixth Street collection. The mix shows how the neighbourhood has moved beyond its old reputation as only an arts and nightlife district.

The arrival of Hermès takes that change even further. The luxury house has traditionally been linked with major shopping streets and high-end areas, so choosing Williamsburg gives the neighbourhood a new level of fashion status.

The First Permanent Hermès Store in Brooklyn

The September opening will be an important step for Hermès as it will be its first permanent store in Brooklyn. The brand already has several locations in New York City, including Maison Madison and stores in Meatpacking and Wall Street, according to its current US store directory.

The move also fits a wider plan by Hermès to grow its store network in 2026. In its 2026 letter to shareholders, the French house named Williamsburg alongside new locations planned in cities including Hanoi, Beijing, London and Geneva.

For Brooklyn shoppers, the move means luxury shopping will no longer require a trip across the East River. Hermès' US website says its leather goods, including the Kelly, Birkin and Constance bags, are sold exclusively through Hermès stores and its website.

What Shoppers Can Expect

Hermès has not yet released a full public breakdown of the Williamsburg store's interior, product selection or opening-day events. That means claims about a 'lavish' interior or special launch should be treated carefully until the fashion house announces more details.

What is clear is that the store has been designed as a major permanent location rather than another short-term pop-up. Its size, corner position and purpose-built design all suggest that Hermès sees long-term value in the Brooklyn market.

The brand's hiring push also suggests that preparations are moving forward. Hermès is currently recruiting for several roles for the Williamsburg boutique, including sales and stock positions, ahead of the planned September opening.
