Hunter Schafer debuted a recent Prada runway look at New York Comic Con, featuring a graphic pink skirt paired with a contrasting turquoise bandeau top. She wore the Spring/Summer 2027 ensemble while promoting her upcoming Prime Video series, Blade Runner 2099.

This appearance continues Schafer's recent run of colourful, unconventional outfits, including a vibrant Marc Jacobs ensemble at San Diego Comic-Con in July and a red-and-purple look in Los Angeles in September. The outfit was fresh from the runway, having appeared in Milan only weeks before Schafer wore it in New York.

Graphic Prints

Styled by Dara Allen, Schafer wore Prada's runway look 35: a high-waisted magenta pencil skirt and a strapless turquoise top. Both pieces featured black graphic designs that unified the contrasting colours without repeating the same pattern. Black patent mule stilettos completed the look, which also featured an exposed midriff.

The skirt's sweeping, scribble-like pattern contrasted with the top's thick horizontal stripes. This combination reflected the collection's playful approach to familiar silhouettes, while the simple shapes emphasised the prints and colour blocks.

Schafer attended the convention on 10 October with fellow Blade Runner 2099 cast members Michelle Yeoh, Matthew Needham and Dimitri Abold. The group participated in a panel for the upcoming series, which expands the science-fiction franchise established by the 1982 film Blade Runner and its 2017 sequel.

Prada's Skirt-Focused Show

The outfit comes from Prada's Spring/Summer 2027 womenswear collection, presented in Milan on 22 September by co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. Titled The Skirt, the collection centred on the garment across all 63 runway looks, showing how materials, designs, decorations and styling can transform its look and appearance.

The designers explored the skirt as both a standalone piece and one that evolves when styled with other garments. Bandeau tops, shirts and sweaters provided styling options, while folds, decorations and printed fabrics introduced further variety.

Look 35's graphic skirt and striped bandeau illustrate the collection's emphasis on mixing contrasting pieces rather than matching them. The collection also changed how people see materials. Folding and other techniques transformed industrial fabrics, while familiar fabrics took on new looks. The result was a diverse range of skirts in shape, style and pattern, positioning the collection's skirt as a statement.

Schafer's Recent Colour Blocking

Schafer has also worn runway pieces from other designers while promoting Blade Runner 2099. At San Diego Comic-Con in July, she selected a look from Marc Jacobs' Spring/Summer 2027 collection, layering a sheer yellow button-up shirt over a red bodysuit.

Bright orange tights and olive PVC shorts added colour and textural contrast, while heels completed the ensemble. Like her recent Prada outfit, this look combined pieces that varied in colour, material and pattern. Harper's Bazaar covered the appearance during the convention.

In September, Schafer took a different approach, pairing a coral-red minidress with a purple capelet for an evening at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. She paired the outfit with sheer thigh-high stockings featuring lace detailing, tan heels and a cream Prada clutch. This combination continued her use of contrasting colours, though the styling focused on layering and accessories instead of graphic prints.

These appearances provide context for Schafer's latest Prada selection while keeping each outfit distinct. The Marc Jacobs look emphasised bright colour blocking and mixed materials, while the September ensemble contrasted red and purple.
