Kaia Gerber tells her childhood exorcism story
Kaia Gerber's mother, Cindy Crawford, reportedly gave her daughter holy water to carry on set @kaiagerber/Instagram

Kaia Gerber has shared plenty about growing up as the daughter of one of the world's most famous supermodels. However, the phrase 'childhood exorcism involving a didgeridoo' had not previously made it into the public family scrapbook until now.

The 24-year-old model and actress recently revealed that she was apparently considered 'possessed' as a child and underwent an exorcism.

Speaking on The Mitch Churi Chat Show, Gerber initially brought up the subject while discussing her role in American Horror Story. She recalled that her mother, Cindy Crawford, gave her holy water to take to set because she did not want her daughter becoming possessed.

Depending on your beliefs, that could already qualify as an unusually memorable parental care package. Then Gerber added: 'I was told I was possessed as a child.'

When asked to explain, she doubled down. 'I just was possessed,' she said, adding that she had felt 'haunted' throughout her life.

Next, came the detail that sent the internet into a spiral straight from a horror film.

Kaia Gerber Says Her 'Exorcism' Involved a Didgeridoo

According to Gerber, the alleged ritual involved somebody playing a didgeridoo around her body.

'Do you know how they did the exorcism? They played a didgeridoo all over me,' she said.

For anyone whose knowledge of supernatural rituals mostly comes from horror films involving priests, Latin prayers, and aggressively malfunctioning furniture, this particular method may require some processing.

Gerber insisted the story was real, saying she had never spoken publicly about it before.

Of course, stories like this are never safe from the judgment of Redditors.

One commenter summed up the collective confusion rather efficiently: 'Well then... That's a good bit of information about a celebrity that I have no idea what to do with.'

Another immediately went for the inevitable pun: 'Oh no they didgerididn't!'

Reddit Turns Its Attention to Cindy Crawford

Once the story spread, however, some reactions shifted from amusement towards questions about the circumstances surrounding Gerber's childhood.

Several commenters criticised the idea of telling a child they were possessed or subjecting them to an exorcism-style ritual, while others began scrutinising Crawford's parenting style.

'Every time Kaia Gerber and her brother talk about their childhood I become increasingly weirded out by Cindy Crawford,' one Reddit user wrote.

Another pointed to Crawford's academic background, joking that the supermodel once considered studying chemical engineering at Northwestern before adding: 'Too bad her kids didn't have a similar option.'

Others were relatively harsher, with some labelling the alleged experience inappropriate or troubling.

Importantly, Gerber herself did not frame the story as traumatic in the interview. Her delivery was casual and humorous. The exact circumstances, including who organised or performed the alleged ritual, remain unclear from her comments.

That has not stopped the internet from examining the Gerber-Crawford family history through a suddenly very supernatural lens.

From 'American Horror Story' to Actual Childhood Horror Story?

The timing makes the anecdote particularly surreal considering Gerber has already worked within the American Horror Story universe.

Apparently, spending time on one of television's most famously creepy sets was enough for Crawford to send her daughter into work equipped with holy water.

Given Gerber's newly revealed history, perhaps Mum simply believed in being prepared and preventive.

Whether viewers interpret the story as bizarre family lore, a genuinely concerning childhood experience, or simply another unexpected celebrity anecdote, it's evident that perhaps no one will look at the Australian wind instrument the same way again.

Kaia Gerber may say the exorcism worked. Meanwhile, Reddit is still trying to exorcise the story from its collective brain.
