Karl-Anthony Towns had one fashion request for the day he married Jordyn Woods, and it started years before he ever knew who would be waiting for him at the altar.
Long before the custom fittings, NBA championships, and a cliffside Malibu wedding, there was a young Towns walking through Macy's and noticing Polo Ralph Lauren.
Growing up, Towns said his family 'didn't really have designer brands'. Polo, however, was always there when he visited the department store. To him, the famous galloping horse logo came to represent something much bigger than the clothes hanging on the racks.
'It represents where I came from and where I wanted to go,' Towns told GQ.
Fast-forward a few years and he had certainly gone somewhere and then some.
When Towns and Woods began planning their wedding, the bride took charge of her future husband's looks. He was happy to let her. There was simply one piece of his childhood he wanted to bring along for the walk down the aisle.
He wanted to wear Ralph Lauren.
And so, when Towns stood overlooking the ocean on 15 August, as the woman he loves walked towards him, the memorable clothing brand came along for the fairytale. Turns out, Macy's was foreshadowing and manifesting.
Jordyn Woods Put Her Groom in Double the Elegance
Once Towns chose the name, Woods handled the details.
Knowing her husband-to-be had a soft spot for double-breasted suits, Woods selected a custom Ralph Lauren Purple Label dinner jacket crafted from Italian wool barathea and finished with satin peak lapels.
A white Sea Island cotton Aston pleated tuxedo shirt, black barathea trousers, and black silk bow tie completed the ceremony look, while his brooches brought some sparkle to the groom's side of the aisle.
Dressing a seven-foot NBA player in a suit that looks this sharp is no small tailoring victory. And Reddit was more than willing to make that clear.
'That man is 7 ft tall and that suit fits RIGHT! Kudos on the tailoring and the elegant taste. He looks sharp,' said one supporter.
Another fan praised both the dapper groom and his beautiful bride, who shone in a Danielle Frankel gown. 'It's a classic for a reason. He looks great. They're such a gorgeous couple.'
From Macy's Polo to a Malibu Wedding
There was enough star power at the wedding to populate several red carpets.
Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Michael B. Jordan, Teyana Taylor, and Jada Pinkett Smith were reportedly among the guests. Towns' New York Knicks teammates Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and OG Anunoby were also there to watch him trade basketball rings for a wedding ring.
Yet the detail that has people feeling most sentimental has little to do with the celebrity guest list or how much couture could fit onto one cliff. It is Towns remembering his childhood days at Macy's.
He and Woods began dating in 2020 after first meeting through mutual friends. Their relationship survived years, career changes, and his move from Minnesota to New York before the couple announced their engagement on Christmas Day 2025. Then came the wedding bells on 15 August.
Karl-Anthony Towns had the ocean behind him, Jordyn Woods beside him, and Ralph Lauren on his back. In some ways, the suit became a love letter between three versions of Towns: the kid at Macy's, the man who made it, and the husband at the altar.
