Jamie and George Callicoat exchanged vows at a McDonald's restaurant on Thornton Street in Akron, Ohio, on 8 August, turning their workplace into an unexpected wedding venue. While the ceremony looked surreal to viewers online, there was more to the choice than simply wanting a memorable photo opportunity. The couple both work at the restaurant and consider their colleagues to be like family, making the familiar fast-food setting surprisingly sentimental.
From Workplace To Wedding Venue
The idea reportedly began as a joke from the couple's boss. Rather than dismissing it, however, Jamie and George decided to run with it.
The couple first met at Cedar Point amusement park and later became engaged there. Jamie subsequently moved to Akron and applied to work at the same McDonald's as George. The pair now work alongside one another, with Jamie training to become a manager while George remains a regular morning opener.
For their wedding, the pair swapped their usual uniforms for more traditional wedding attire. Jamie wore a short-sleeved floral lace wedding dress, while George opted for a black shirt with a red tie and black trousers.
