Luka Doncic's off season has taken another dramatic turn after reports claimed his former fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, has launched a fresh legal claim in Slovenia just days after publicly saying she wanted to settle their dispute 'amicably'.
The reported filing includes a request for a settlement worth £37.2 million ($50 million) and changes to the NBA star's custody arrangement with their two daughters, adding a new twist to an already emotional family dispute.
The latest development comes at a time when Doncic has been spending much of his summer in Slovenia to stay close to his children. While he prepares to lead the Los Angeles Lakers into a new era, his biggest battle appears to be happening away from the basketball court.
Amicable Statement Quickly Changed
Earlier this week, Goltes filed paperwork in Los Angeles asking to withdraw her child support petition. In the filing, she said she hoped the matter could be resolved 'amicably and by a mutual agreement' that would serve the best interests of their children.
However that approach was soon followed by a new legal claim in Slovenia. The report has caught attention because it appears to contrast with her earlier public statement about seeking a peaceful resolution.
New Claim Includes $50 million Settlement
Citing sources with direct knowledge of the matter, Goltes is seeking a total settlement of £37.2 million ($50 million). According to the outlet, around £29.8 million ($40 million) would be for Goltes herself, while the remaining £7.4 million ($10 million) would be intended for the couple's two daughters.
Neither Doncic nor Goltes has publicly commented on the reported figures. Lawyers representing both sides have also not publicly addressed the latest claims.
Custody Request Raises Stakes
The reported financial demand is not the only issue now on the table. A source also claimed Goltes wants to reduce Doncic's current parenting time with their daughters.
The Lakers star reportedly has the children for at least two days each week. Under the reported proposal, that would be reduced to one day a week, making the custody issue just as significant as the financial request.
The Fight Moves to Slovenia
The latest filing comes after Doncic argued that California was not the appropriate place for the legal proceedings. He previously maintained that Slovenia was the proper jurisdiction because both daughters live there and because he had already started custody and support proceedings in his home country.
That argument now appears even more relevant as the reported legal battle shifts to Slovenia. Court records in California also showed Goltes' request to dismiss her earlier petition had not yet been completed because the filing reportedly lacked Doncic's signature.
Family Life Stays in Focus
The former couple were together for around a decade after first meeting as teenagers. They share two daughters, Gabriela, aged two, and Olivia, who is seven months old, before ending their engagement earlier this year.
Since confirming the split, both have focused publicly on their children, although the legal proceedings have continued behind the scenes. Doncic has previously said he would do anything for his daughters and has reportedly remained in Slovenia this summer while pursuing joint custody.
Lakers Season Draws Closer
Away from the courtroom, Doncic is preparing for one of the biggest seasons of his NBA career. Following LeBron James' move to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Lakers are now building their future around the Slovenian superstar.
He is also expected to host the entire Lakers squad for a four day minicamp in Slovenia before the new season begins. Even so, the reported custody battle is likely to remain under close watch, especially as no agreement has been publicly confirmed and legal proceedings are expected to continue.
