Is it déjà vu, or is there some Practical Magic happening on the red carpet?

Maisie Williams arrived at the Practical Magic 2 London premiere on Wednesday looking suspiciously familiar, and that was entirely the point.

The actress, who plays Sandra Bullock's on-screen daughter, Antonia Owens, in the highly anticipated sequel, channelled her fictional mum by recreating one of Bullock's own red carpet looks from 1999.

This wasn't a vague 'inspired by' situation requiring a fashion detective and several zoom-ins to decipher. Rather, Williams' custom Ellie Misner creation directly referenced the deep red ensemble Bullock wore to the Forces of Nature premiere 27 years ago.

Looks like the Owens generational curse has transitioned into generational style instead.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Bullock's original 1999 outfit paired a fitted, boatneck red top with a silky floor-length skirt draped around the hips.

Williams transformed the formula into a single custom gown worthy of its own runway.

Her sleeveless burgundy dress featured a similarly streamlined bodice before falling into a floor-sweeping skirt with subtle draping and a dramatic train. She finished the look with a sparkling choker centred around a red stone, keeping the styling suitably moody for an evening spent celebrating the Owens witches.

Placed side by side, the resemblance is impossible to miss.

Yet Williams avoided looking like she had simply raided Bullock's wardrobe. The darker colour, elongated silhouette, and gothic jewellery gave the 1999 inspiration enough of a modern spell to make it her own.

Twenty-seven years later, Sandra's red carpet outfit has apparently produced an heir.

How very 'Owens family' of them.

Double the Déjà Vu

The premiere wasn't an isolated fashion flashback either, as another fashion reboot was cooking up in the Owens family cauldron.

The following day, Williams attended a London photocall in another custom look inspired by Bullock, this time referencing the black dress the Oscar winner wore to the 2006 premiere of Infamous.

For this actress, method dressing has apparently taken a turn for a time machine.

Williams had already warned everyone that vintage Sandra, and Nicole Kidman fashion would be haunting the sequel's press tour.

'We've been taking a lot of inspiration from the late '90s and Sandra and Nicole's red carpet looks,' she said during a Teen Vogue Fest appearance in July.

The Owens Fashion Spell Continues

Maisie Williams joined Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, and Joey King at the London premiere as the beloved witches continue to show up in enchanting style at the Practical Magic 2 press tour.

However, kicking it up a notch by dressing like her on-screen mother before audiences even see them together on screen? Now, that is some serious commitment to the magical family tree. The highly anticipated sequel to the classic witchcraft film is slated to hit cinemas in September, and judging from the press tour alone, it is expected to be a stylish success.

Bullock wore the original look in 1999. Williams reimagined it in 2026. Nearly three decades disappeared with one burgundy dress.

Déjà vu or practically magic? Either way, if history is going to repeat itself, it'd better be thisstylish.
