McKenna Grace says playing Gwen Stacy would be a 'dream job' @mckennagraceful/Instagram

McKenna Grace has expressed interest in playing Gwen Stacy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), responding to fan-casting suggestions during a recent red-carpet interview. The 20-year-old actress addressed calls for her to play the Marvel character, joking that fan predictions have a habit of going nowhere before admitting the role would be a dream opportunity.

Marvel Studios has not announced Grace as Gwen Stacy, so there is no casting confirmation just yet. Still, at least one fan-favourite candidate seems ready to suit up.

McKenna Grace Doesn't Want Fans To Jinx It

During a red-carpet interview with content creator Sami Haidary, Grace was asked about fans wanting her to play Gwen. 'Stop it because whenever I get fan-casted for things, that's when it doesn't happen, stop,' she joked, according to ComicBook.

Grace then made her interest clear, adding: 'No, oh my gosh, of course, that would be such a dream job for any actor.'

So, no casting confirmation, no secret Spider-Man contract pulled from a handbag, and definitely no Gwen Stacy suit hiding beneath the red-carpet look as far as anyone knows. There is, however, one actress very much on board with the internet's vision.

Grace Has Already Been Around the MCU Block

Grace wouldn't exactly need directions to the Marvel universe. She has already been there. The actress played a young Carol Danvers in 2019's Captain Marvel, meaning a Gwen casting would mark another trip into Marvel territory, albeit as an entirely different character.

Gwen also arrives with some formidable shoes to fill. Emma Stone previously portrayed Peter Parker's love interest opposite Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man films. Meanwhile, an alternate-universe Gwen became Spider-Gwen, also known as Ghost-Spider, with Hailee Steinfeld voicing her in the animated Spider-Verse films.

Stone appeared as Gwen in both 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man and its 2014 sequel, while Steinfeld made her Spider-Gwen debut in 2018. Steinfeld returned for 2023's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and is also set to reprise the role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

As for the MCU, it hasn't officially brought Gwen into its current Spider-Man story. That leaves plenty of room for fans to fill in with casting suggestions.

Fan Casting Has Found a Willing Volunteer

Whether Grace ever gets the call remains entirely up to Marvel. Still, her reaction has answered one question: she isn't running away from the idea.

Grace is also set to appear as Maysilee Donner in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, scheduled for release on 20 November 2026. Her credits include Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Captain Marvel, adding to her experience in major film franchises.

Fans can even mark their calendars for 2027, as Grace will be gracing the Netflix screen as the most stylish member of Mystery Inc., Daphne Blake. Scooby-Doo: Origins also stars Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, and Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers.

For now, McKenna Grace's Gwen Stacy remains exactly where most fan castings live: somewhere between a comment section and a casting director's inbox. However, if Marvel ever starts taking attendance, her hand is raised.
