Olivia Rodrigo's close interactions with fans have become a talking point after videos from her The Unraveled Tour appeared to show concertgoers touching the singer while she performed along the barricade. Fans have since called for better concert etiquette, with some worrying that repeated incidents could eventually make Rodrigo reconsider how closely she interacts with the audience.
The latest footage has circulated online as Rodrigo continues the North American leg of her 2026–2027 tour. While the singer has not publicly said she plans to change the segment, fans have been vocal about the importance of respecting her personal boundaries when she steps closer to the crowd.
this was so scary to watch, if this doesn’t stop she will soon stop doing the fan interactions… pic.twitter.com/3xrXKHPGhA

Olivia Rodrigo's Barricade Interactions Go Viral
A viral clip from one of Rodrigo's recent concerts shows the singer greeting fans at the barricade while performing. During the interaction, one concertgoer appeared to reach towards and touch Rodrigo's legs as she sang and moved along the front row.
Text over the circulating video read: 'Guys, please stop violating Olivia!!' One fan reacting to the footage warned that if this behaviour continues, 'she will soon stop doing the fan interactions'.
The incident came shortly after another video from the tour drew attention for similar reasons. During 'Stupid Song' at Rodrigo's concert, a fan appeared to grab and kiss the singer's arm several times as she walked alongside the barricade. Rodrigo continued moving through the crowd but was later seen crouching lower as she approached another set of fans.
With that, fans have speculated online that moments like this could affect future barricade interactions.
Fans Demand Better Concert Etiquette
The videos have prompted strong reactions from fans who believe being close enough to touch an artist does not mean concertgoers have permission to do so.
'That's so disturbing. ppl stop touching and rubbing your hands on someone's skin... so weird,' one reaction read.
Another fan urged concertgoers to remember that Rodrigo is a person rather than simply a performer, writing that fans should 'learn some concert etiquettes and behave' if they want to continue seeing her enjoy these interactions.
Others were concerned about the possible consequences for fans who behave this way. 'It's gonna get to a point where she needs to prioritise her Safety over these fan interactions,' one person wrote, adding that the larger Rodrigo becomes, the fewer interactions she may be able to have.
Another described the behaviour as people becoming 'way too comfortable' when a famous person is within reach.
The reactions also included calls for stronger consequences, with one fan suggesting 'lifetime bans from any and all concerts'.
If you guys hope to see Olivia doing such happy fan interactions. We should learn some concert etiquettes and behave. she is also a human… we can’t touch them inappropriately as we feel… please be on ur best behaviours 🙏🏻

they forget she’s an actual person and no one wants people they don’t know touching them like that without their consent

When Concert Excitement Crosses Boundaries
Being invited into an artist's space during a performance does not remove the need for boundaries. Concert etiquette guides commonly advise fans not to grab, pull or become overly physical with performers, even when artists deliberately approach the barricade.
The issue also goes beyond Rodrigo. Concerts have increasingly seen debates over audience behaviour, including fans throwing objects, crowding performers and attempting to create viral moments.
Consent is also not something that should be assumed simply because someone is physically nearby. The nonprofit organisation Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) notes that consent should be freely given and that boundaries should be respected rather than presumed.
