Olivia Rodrigo has officially entered the Fortnite universe. The only problem is that some fans are still squinting to find her, claiming that her in-game avatar looks nothing like her.

The Grammy-winning pop star is the latest addition to Fortnite's Icon Series, complete with a lineup of themed outfits, emotes, and chart-topping tracks. On paper, it is a crossover bound to make fans and players tap their keyboards with joy. In practice, however, the internet has decided to zoom in and ask a very specific question: does it actually look like Olivia Rodrigo?

Olivia Rodrigo, Now Playable or Non-Playable

Rodrigo's Fortnite debut comes fully equipped. Players can unlock multiple skins inspired by her musical eras, including a pink 'Lover Girl' dress tied to her latest album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, as well as a blue cheerleader uniform that calls back to the age of 'Good 4 U'.

Accessories align heavily with her aesthetic, from a sticker-covered purple guitar to butterfly wings and a customised mic stand. Two themed emotes and several Jam Tracks round out the experience, while Rodrigo also appears as a non-playable character (NPC) on the Battle Royale island.

Where Is Olivia Rodrigo in Fortnite?

Across Reddit and other online platforms, players began debating whether Rodrigo's digital counterpart captures her likeness or simply gestures in its direction. Some praised the styling and attention to detail, particularly the nods to her albums. Others were less impressed, with one Redditor quipping, 'Who is this🤔'.

'I know they have to tweak things to fit the game, but her face doesn't really resemble her,' another Reddit user wrote.

Keeping the sentiment up, a third Reddit account commented, 'I know what Olivia Rodrigo looks like...this is not her.'

From eyebrows to facial structure, the critiques have been specific and slightly forensic. At the same time, a portion of fans have stepped in to defend the design, pointing out that Fortnite's stylised avatars are not exactly built for hyper-realism.

'Every modern icon looks off at first,' another user noted, suggesting that familiarity might do some of the heavy lifting over time.

A Pop Star in a Pixelated World

Olivia Rodrigo now joins a long list of artists who have crossed into Fortnite's ever-expanding pop culture playground, including Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Lady Gaga. At this point, Fortnite is quite close to building its very own pixelated collection of Grammy nominees and winners.

With her influence continuing to grow, the Fortnite collaboration marks a step towards a new demographic of Fortnite players getting introduced to Rodrigo's music and Livies getting pulled into Reality Zero.

For now, the verdict remains divided. Some players are excited about the character addition, while others are still adjusting to a version of the singer that feels just a few pixels off.

Whether the design settles in or gets a future tweak, the reaction proves that not everyone is exactly feeling deja vu over the Fortnite version of their favourite sad girl in love.
