If you keep waking up to headlines claiming Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are allegedly set to exchange vows at Madison Square Garden, join the club.

The rumour mill is currently working overtime, with reports suggesting the couple could host a wedding celebration over the Fourth of July weekend at a venue just as iconic as they are. According to circulating claims, the plan supposedly involves an intimate ceremony followed by a much larger reception, with guest lists stretching...well, the span of Madison Square Garden, New York.

While, none of this has been confirmed yet, naturally, that has not stopped the internet residents from wanting to chime in, or to speak now.

No Wedding Too Big for New York, Apparently

With heavy traffic as a top fear factor, numerous online reactions immediately labelled the idea 'ridiculous'. On the other hand, others were quick to shut that notion down, especially those familiar with how New York actually functions.

'Street closures are a daily occurrence in NYC', one user pointed out, reminding everyone that the city does not, in fact, collapse every time traffic is rerouted.

Another added, 'People mad just to be mad at this point. It doesn't affect you', which is pretty much the synopsis of the discourse at this point.

The tone quickly melted from outrage to eye-rolling realism. For many, the idea of shutting down a few streets around Madison Square Garden during a holiday weekend barely registers as news, let alone a crisis.

Translation: New Yorkers have bigger things than another celebrity wedding to worry about.

From 'Tacky' to Tactical

Of course, not everyone is sold on the venue itself.

'Getting married at MSG feels so... tacky?' one commenter wrote, voicing the confusion of those imagining a ceremony under a basketball hoop. (True Swifties might counter that the singer has literally sung the lyrics 'Got me dreamin' 'bout a driveway with a basketball hoop' in her song 'Wi$h Li$t.')

Nevertheless, others came in with a much more practical take. 'It's just a vessel to build a venue inside', another user explained, highlighting the reality that a space like Madison Square Garden can be completely transformed.

And when you factor in Swift-level fame, the choice starts to make a lot more sense. If the couple, indeed, opted for Madison Square Garden for their wedding celebration, it comes complete with an indoor venue, controlled access, and safe entry points. Primarily, there would be minimal chance of paparazzi getting a glimpse. For a couple that has spent years navigating public attention, the appeal of a highly secure location is not exactly shocking.

In fact, it might be the smartest option on the table.

Then there is the Reddit theory that might be the most entertaining of all:

'It would be incredibly funny if they just did all this as a diversion and they're actually getting married in their backyard', one user wrote, immediately earning agreement from thousands.

The Life of an Engaged Girl

Whether or not Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce truly aim to turn Madison Square Garden into the most high-security wedding venue in modern pop culture remains blurry, until someone finally shares the whole picture, of course.

From crying teardrops on her guitar to accepting awards with a ring on her finger, Taylor Swift still seems to be a master at keeping everything but her relationship status under wraps. To that effect, we wouldn't be surprised if the spectacular wedding at Madison Square Garden has any truth to it or if the superstar would simply say 'I do' from the comfort of her living room. Either way, the Fourth of July will still have fireworks.
