Bebe Rexha Curvy Clothes
Bebe Rexha says women with curvier bodies can be sexualised simply for wearing fitted clothes, after unwanted comments about her own body left her questioning how to dress sexily @beberexha / Instagram

Bebe Rexha says women with curvier bodies are judged differently for wearing fitted clothes, arguing that the same fashion choices can be read as more sexual depending on body shape. The four-time Grammy nominee behind I'm Good (Blue) and Meant to Be made the comments on X on 6 September 2026 while in Venice, where she performed at amfAR Venezia during the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.

'I feel like when girls with curvy bodies wear something tight we automatically look slutty,' Rexha wrote. The post followed another message in which the 37-year-old singer said she wanted to dress sexily without having her body become the focus of comments from straight men online. 'I don't know what to do with my boobies. They just got so massive and I hate the straight men in my comments who only come for that but then again a girl still wanna dress sexy,' she wrote.

Rexha Calls Out the Dress Double Standard

Rexha's posts centred on the tension between dressing in a way she enjoys and dealing with unwanted attention directed at her body. In the same message, she joked that 'we need an app for girls and gays', framing her frustration around who she wanted interacting with her fashion posts. Her comments did not suggest that fitted clothing itself was the problem, but that curvier women can face sexualised assumptions for wearing it.

The timing gave the remarks an immediate fashion context. Rexha later appeared at amfAR Venezia in a sheer black lace gown by Luanda Bunjaku, a fitted look closely resembling the type of clothing she had just been discussing. The event raised funds for amfAR's lifesaving biomedical research, with Rexha appearing alongside fellow performer Mimi Webb.

Fashion Has Been Part of Rexha's Body Conversation Before

The comments echo a fashion industry dispute Rexha made public years earlier. In January 2019, ahead of the 2019 Grammys, where she had received her first two nominations, she said on Instagram that several designers had declined to dress her because she was considered 'too big' at a US size 6 or 8. 'If a size 6/8 is too big then I don't know what to tell you,' Rexha said at the time, criticising standards that excluded women outside traditional runway sizing. The original Instagram post is no longer available on her account, although her comments were widely documented at the time.

In her Instagram caption, Rexha told designers not to make women feel 'less than' because of their size and wrote, 'We are beautiful any size. Small or large.' She ultimately attended the 2019 Grammys in a red Monsoori gown after several designers publicly offered to dress her. The episode marked an earlier public clash between Rexha and fashion industry sizing norms, seven years before she raised a different version of the same issue in Venice.

Rexha Still Wants To Dress Sexy

Rexha has continued to speak openly about body image as her appearance has changed over the years. When a follower asked on X whether polycystic ovary syndrome had contributed to her recent weight changes, Rexha replied, 'That and too much bread.' She has previously discussed having PCOS while also pushing back when searches and comments about her weight became a focus online.

Her latest posts make clear that she is not asking to disappear from fashion scrutiny or give up fitted clothing. Rexha said she still wants to dress sexily, while objecting to having that choice treated as an invitation for sexual commentary about her body. For a singer who once had to fight simply to get designers to dress her for music's biggest red carpet, the Venice comments show that her relationship with fashion is now raising another question: whether the same clothes are perceived differently depending on the body wearing them.
