Callina Liang has seemingly heard enough from anyone wondering whether her striking Chun-Li legs were digitally enhanced. After behind-the-scenes images showed the actress in the character's famous blue costume, Liang shared a blunt response that was almost as eye-catching as the transformation itself.

'I don't have time to photoshop ok,' she wrote over a clip shared on Instagram, appearing to address speculation that her muscular lower body had been digitally altered. The post showed her in full Chun-Li styling, including the blue outfit, spiked wrist cuffs and signature hair buns.

Liang Directly Addresses the Photoshop Speculation

The speculation came after new set and behind-the-scenes images showed just how dramatically Liang had built up her legs for the role. Some online users questioned whether the unusually muscular appearance could have been enhanced digitally, but Liang's own post pushed back on that suggestion.

Her response was delivered with a notably casual tone rather than a lengthy explanation. The footage showed her posing in costume beside her vanity van, giving viewers a glimpse of the physical preparation that went into bringing the famous fighting-game character to life.

Her Chun-Li Legs Were Built Through Training

Liang's transformation did not happen by accident. She has previously explained that she trained for around two hours a day in Taekwondo, Muay Thai and Wushu while also focusing on exercises designed to build the strength needed for Chun-Li's demanding fighting style.

The actress has also said that her thighs increased by about 6.5 centimetres each by the end of filming. That figure comes from Liang's own account of her preparation, rather than an independent measurement, but it helps explain why the physical change has become such a noticeable part of her portrayal.

She Ate 12 Eggs a Day During Her Bulk

Building those legs also meant changing her diet considerably. Liang has described eating around 12 eggs a day during her bulking period and having meals every two hours, a routine she recalled as so demanding that she was sometimes close to feeling sick.

The unusual diet was part of a broader effort to add muscle and strength rather than simply create the appearance of a powerful fighter. For Chun-Li, whose trademark attacks rely heavily on her legs, Liang wanted her physical preparation to support the action as well as the character's recognisable silhouette.

Liang Studied Chun-Li on PS5

Her preparation also went well beyond the gym and kitchen. Liang has said she downloaded every version of Street Fighter onto a PS5, recorded Chun-Li's moves during fights and watched them back in slow motion so she could study the character's movements closely.

That level of preparation gave her a reference point for recreating Chun-Li's distinctive fighting style on screen. Alongside the martial arts training, it meant Liang was working to understand not only how the character looks, but also how she moves.

Chun-Li's Legs Became a Talking Point

The striking transformation has naturally become one of the most noticeable details in the film's promotional material. Social-media users have posted jokes and reactions about Liang's muscular legs, while other viewers have focused on the amount of training she undertook to prepare for the part.

Some comments have also focused on her body in more personal or crude terms, but those remarks represent individual social-media reactions rather than an established consensus. The more concrete story is the preparation Liang has described herself, including the training, diet and reported 6.5-centimetre increase in each thigh.

Street Fighter Arrives in October

Liang will play Chun-Li in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter film, which is directed by Kitao Sakurai. The cast includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Jason Momoa as Blanka and David Dastmalchian as M. Bison.

The film is scheduled for a 16 October 2026 theatrical release. Until then, Liang's blunt Photoshop response has given audiences another reason to look closely at the transformation she spent months building for one of gaming's most recognisable fighters.
