Chris Brown and Diamond Brown face a custody and child support dispute over Lovely @chrisbrownofficial/Instagram

Chris Brown's former partner Diamond Brown has accused the singer of showing little interest in spending time with their four-year-old daughter, Lovely, as the parents contest custody and financial support in Los Angeles. Brown disputes that account, saying Diamond has prevented him from seeing the child for seven months.

In court papers publicised on Tuesday, 13 October, Diamond alleges that Brown has not asked to see Lovely for six to seven months, despite her efforts to encourage their relationship. She is seeking at least $30,000 (around £22,700) a month in support. Brown has publicly claimed that he already pays $10,000 (£7,580) a month, alongside other expenses, and that Diamond is restricting his access to their daughter.

The competing allegations have not been established by a final court ruling. Neither parent's description of the visitation arrangements has been independently confirmed through the underlying court docket.

Diamond Alleges Brown Has Not Requested Visits

Diamond says Lovely spends approximately 90 per cent of her time with her. She acknowledges that Brown's work regularly takes him away from Los Angeles but alleges that he has not sought time with their daughter for months. In the filing, Diamond describes Brown as 'often uninterested' in seeing Lovely. She maintains that she has encouraged the father-daughter relationship and tried to make visits possible.

Diamond also says Brown proposed taking Lovely on tour on alternating weekends. She objects to the arrangement because she believes the singer would be occupied with performances and other work, leaving the child largely in a nanny's care. That assessment is Diamond's objection to the proposal, not a finding about how any visits would be supervised.

Brown offered a sharply different account in Instagram Stories posted earlier in October. He said Diamond was not allowing him to spend time with Lovely and accused her of presenting a false version of events to the court. In one post, he wrote, 'I HAVEN'T SEEN MY DAUGHTER IN 7 months.' He also said his priority was his child, not Diamond's personal relationships.

Diamond subsequently shared screenshots she said showed attempts to arrange contact, including an invitation for Brown to see Lovely during New York Fashion Week. The authenticity and completeness of those exchanges have not been independently established.

Support Requests and Disputed Payments

Diamond's latest request is for support of at least $30,000 each month. She says the $7,000 (£5,300) in monthly cash support she receives from Brown is insufficient and that her debts are growing. The $7,000 figure is her account of the cash payments, rather than an independently verified court-ordered amount.

Brown, by contrast, has claimed that he pays $10,000 a month and covers additional costs, including housing, cars, schooling and medical care. His description does not establish whether the $10,000 is a separate cash payment or how all the expenses are categorised for legal support purposes. An earlier financial proposal was described as seeking approximately $45,000 (£34,100) a month. However, a complete line-by-line total has not been verified against the original filing.

In her financial declaration, Diamond described herself as a social media influencer and esthetician earning approximately $1,500 monthly. She also acknowledged that Brown previously bought her a Tesla and pays household utilities. Those details are her statements in the reported paperwork, not independent verification of the current value of his support.

A court has not been reported to have ordered either proposed amount. The complete filings and any subsequent financial orders still require direct docket verification.

Custody Case Began in April

Diamond filed a paternity and custody case on 3 April 2026, seeking legal and physical custody of Lovely Symphani Brown while proposing visitation for the singer. The child was born on 7 January 2022, making her four years old in October 2026. The dates and full name appear in published descriptions of the filing; the original court record has not been independently inspected.

Brown's response was reported on 6 June. He sought joint legal and physical custody, opposing Diamond's proposal that he have visitation without shared custody. A request for joint custody is not the same as an order granting it.

Separate filings also contain Diamond's allegations that Brown threatened or harassed men she dated after their relationship ended. Brown has denied those accusations. The reported allegations involving former partners are distinct from the disagreement over parenting time and financial support, and no final judicial finding on them has been verified.

The most recent publicly available reports describe the custody and support dispute as ongoing. A fresh check of the Los Angeles court docket is needed before publication to confirm whether any orders or hearings have changed the position.

Gifts and Co-Parents Enter Public Dispute

Diamond's recent filing also cites spending she attributes to Brown, including a car and $10,000 in cash reportedly given to a fan and her family. She points to luxury handbags reportedly given to the mothers of his other children, including Hermès and Prada items. These claims appear in descriptions of Diamond's court paperwork; the individual purchases have not all been independently documented.

The reported gifts do not, by themselves, determine Brown's legal child support obligation. His income, the child's needs and the applicable court process remain separate questions from the spending examples raised by Diamond.

Nia Guzman, mother of Brown's daughter Royalty, Ammika Harris, mother of his son Aeko, and Jada Wallace, who welcomed a child with Brown in 2026, have publicly defended his parenting. Guzman said he takes care of his responsibilities, while Harris described the children as well provided for. Wallace criticised Diamond's support request on social media.

Those statements concern the women's own experiences and do not establish what happened between Brown and Diamond. Diamond has challenged their defence of the singer and disputed his version of the contact arrangements.

The dispute remains centred on competing claims about Lovely's time with each parent, Brown's financial contributions and the custody arrangement the court may ultimately approve. Neither account has been tested in a final court ruling.
