Demi Lovato and Charli XCX joined a star-studded night of music, fashion, and partying in West Hollywood, where the celebrations came with a message beyond the dance floor. MISTR's second annual National PrEP Day event brought celebrities together to promote HIV prevention and challenge the stigma surrounding sexual health.
Held at The Abbey on 10 October, the gathering supported MISTR's efforts to improve awareness and access to PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) medication that significantly reduces the risk of acquiring HIV when taken as prescribed. The guest list included Kesha, Christina Aguilera, Tinashe, Kim Petras, and Khloé Kardashian.
Lovato later shared a carousel of photographs and videos from the evening on Instagram, jokingly describing the celebrity-filled celebration as 'a very chill and casual evening'. Given the glamorous outfits, live performances and dollar bills flying through the air, her definition of casual might need a little explaining.
Demi Lovato and Charli XCX Bring Boudoir Fashion to the Club
Lovato embraced lingerie-inspired dressing in a Fanci Club corseted minidress featuring contrasting aubergine and deep-red panels. The fitted bodice featured a bra-like upper section with delicate lace trim, while the sculpted waist created a dramatic silhouette.
Charli XCX opted for a darker interpretation of clubwear in a custom Julia O'Callaghan outfit. Her black ensemble combined short shorts with a sheer, tiered cape featuring voluminous ruffles, accessorised with layered necklaces and platform pumps.
The pair also appeared together in Lovato's Instagram photos, with their dark hair and striking makeup prompting comparisons. Rather than identical outfits, the two offered contrasting takes on lingerie-inspired dressing: Lovato in structured corsetry and Charli in sheer fabrics and gothic detailing.
Fans Spot a Resemblance as Demi Shares Her Night Out
Lovato's Instagram carousel captured more than the arrival-carpet fashion. One photograph showed her posing alongside Charli, while another brought together Lovato, Khloé Kardashian, Meredith Marks, and Phaedra Parks. Their appearance together also prompted observations that Lovato and Charli could pass for sisters, adding an unexpected lookalike moment to the evening's celebrity encounters.
Kardashian joined the comments beneath Lovato's post, writing, 'You're the cutest!!!!! Muah 💕', while Olivia Pierson replied, 'Stunning!! So great meeting you Demi!' The carousel also included footage of Lovato throwing dollar bills towards a dancer, alongside clips of Charli performing onstage.
A Star-Studded Night With a Bigger Message
Beyond Lovato and Charli's outfits, the event featured plenty of distinctive fashion choices. Christina Aguilera channelled her 'Dirrty' era in leather shorts, a sheer mesh top and thigh-high Christian Louboutin boots, while Tinashe wore a blue lace ensemble from Erik Charlotte's spring 2027 collection. Kesha also arrived in a semi-sheer leopard-print maxi dress, bringing another striking look to the gathering.
The night offered more than celebrity sightings and barely-there outfits. Looking past all the glitter, leather, and club chaos was MISTR's push to make HIV prevention, particularly access to PrEP, something people could talk about without embarrassment or stigma.
As for Lovato's 'very chill and casual evening', it was probably everyone's definition of casual turned up to eleven. Who knew a little club chaos could make room for such an important conversation?
