Dove Cameron married a rock star, but with four metres of constellations trailing behind her, the bride looked like a descendant of the cosmos.
The singer and actress tied the knot with Måneskin frontman Damiano David in Tuscany, wearing a custom Valentino bridal gown designed by Alessandro Michele. Yet one detail floating behind her became a celestial showstopper of its own: a four-metre veil scattered with hand-embroidered crystal constellations.
The veil was quite literally written in Cameron's stars. Its celestial theme carries an especially personal connection for the bride, whose middle name is Celeste.
Dove Cameron Wore the Night Sky Down the Aisle
Cameron's veil was crafted from silk tulle and delicately embroidered by hand with tiny crystals and beads arranged into constellations.
'I wanted something very unique, and they really created an art piece,' Cameron told Vogue during her final fitting at Valentino's Rome atelier just four days before the wedding.
Crystal Valentino hair clips continued the astral theme, turning the bride's styling into something of a wearable night sky. During the Vogue fitting, Cameron's first reaction to finally seeing the complete look suggested even she was slightly starstruck.
'Oh my God!' she exclaimed upon seeing the dress displayed with its veil. 'I've never seen it with the full thing with the veil on the mannequin. Every time that I see it, it really is like seeing it for the first time.'
Honestly, four metres of crystal constellations probably deserve a second look. Or twelve, just for good measure.
Fans Are Seeing Stars Over the Veil
The celestial detail quickly became one of the most talked-about pieces from Cameron's wedding wardrobe, and Reddit had little difficulty identifying its favourite.
'The veil,' one commenter simply wrote, attracting thousands of upvotes. Apparently, no further argument was required. Others became even more enamoured after discovering the meaning stitched into it.
'Especially when you know it's got constellations because her real middle name is Celeste 😭😭 she looked ethereal,' one fan wrote. Another agreed that the personal detail made the design even sweeter: 'That's why it's so beautiful, the constellations. Didn't know that was her middle name though which for sure is even cuter.'
Next came the playful bridal envy. 'Right, so jealous of that veil,' another commenter admitted. One fan particularly loved how the sheer crystal-covered tulle looked against Cameron's dark hair, calling the combination 'perfection' and adding: 'So gorgeous!'
It turns out wearing an entire constellation down the aisle is a fairly efficient way to make everyone else's Pinterest boards get an update.
Valentino Made Her a Celestial Bride
The veil had plenty of competition from the rest of Cameron's Valentino look. Her wedding gown was crafted from luminous silk satin and layers of flowing silk chiffon, with a sculpted bustier and a dramatic train formed from further layers of white chiffon. Silk-covered buttons extended from the centre back towards the end of the train, where they were left undone to create a sweeping split and fan-like movement.
The romantic silhouette offered a striking change of pace from another look in Cameron and David's bridal wardrobe. For their civil wedding, the pair went sharply tailored, with Cameron stepping out in an unconventional white power suit before embracing flowing satin and chiffon for the Tuscany celebration.
The blushing bride described Valentino as her 'dream house' to collaborate with for the wedding and said the team had gone 'over the top' for her. Judging by those four metres of hand-embroidered stars, that may have been literal.
If the bride already had something old and something new, her 'something borrowed' obviously came from the stars.
