A Florida domestic violence call reportedly took a shocking turn after a son arrested over an alleged assault on his mum allegedly told police they had been having sex for years. Investigators then questioned his mother, who police say allegedly confirmed the relationship and described it as happening 'about 100 times'.
The arrests involved Christina Clemens, 46, and her 22-year-old son Shane Clemens in Lakeland, Florida. Both face an incest charge, while Christina also faces a charge of living in open adultery and Shane faces a domestic violence battery charge, according to jail records reviewed in the reporting.
Police Were Called Over a Family Fight
The case began in August after police responded to what was described as a domestic violence event at the Clemens family home. Sheriff Grady Judd said Christina reported that Shane had struck her, leading to his arrest and the domestic violence battery charge.
Shane was booked on 21 August, while Christina was booked several days later on 27 August. According to the reported jail records, Shane was being held without bond, while Christina was being held on a $5,250 bond covering her two charges.
Shane Allegedly Made a Shocking Claim
The case reportedly took a dramatic turn after Shane's arrest, when he allegedly told police that he had been having sex with his mother since he was 18. The claim was reportedly made during the investigation into the domestic violence incident, rather than being the original reason officers were called to the property.
Judd later recounted the alleged statement in a video shared on social media on 15 September. The sheriff said officers asked Shane to repeat the claim before questioning Christina about what her son had allegedly told them.
Christina Allegedly Gave Police a Number
When investigators questioned Christina about Shane's claim, Judd said she allegedly acknowledged having intercourse with her son. The sheriff said she described it as happening 'only about 100 times', a figure that became one of the most striking details in the case.
The allegation remains part of an active criminal case, and the reported statements are allegations rather than findings of guilt. Christina and Shane were both charged with incest, meaning the charges themselves do not establish that every allegation made during the investigation is proven in court.
Her Husband Said He Did Not Know
Investigators also reportedly questioned Christina's husband about whether he knew about the alleged relationship. Judd said the husband told investigators that he was unaware of it and described the couple as happily married.
The sheriff said the husband did, however, recall being suspicious about one detail inside the home. He reportedly told investigators that Christina and Shane sometimes went into the master bedroom and locked the door, although he said he had not known what was allegedly happening there.
