A groom who celebrated his wedding vows by motorboating his bride at the altar has sparked an unexpected privacy row after their officiant shared the intimate moment online. The groom, Riley's, unusual first-kiss antics with his new wife, Adelina, were captured on camera at Southwood Estate in Canada, but some viewers have questioned whether the footage should have been made public in the first place.

The video, shared by wedding officiant Nathan Grieve on TikTok on 9 October, shows the groom burying his face into Adelina's strapless wedding dress before enthusiastically pumping his fists towards the guests.

While the bride appeared to burst into laughter, the footage attracted criticism from an etiquette expert and prompted questions about the decision to broadcast someone else's wedding moment.

The Unexpected Altar Stunt

The newlyweds had already experienced unexpected rainfall during their ceremony before reaching the much-anticipated first kiss. However, rather than sharing a traditional romantic embrace, Riley surprised the crowd by motorboating his wife.

The groom shook his head against his bride's chest in a movement widely described as motorboating before turning towards the guests and pumping his fists. Adelina appeared amused by the display, although the moment quickly became a talking point among viewers who had different opinions about the newlywed's behaviour.

Officiant Shares The Footage

Grieve, who filmed and shared the moment through his wedding TikTok account, admitted that he had never witnessed anything quite like it. His caption suggested Riley's celebration would become a memorable story at family gatherings for years.

'Riley immediately celebrated his new wife in a way that will absolutely be remembered at family gatherings for years to come,' the officiant wrote. He also described the ceremony as 'Perfect timing. Perfect chaos. Perfectly Riley & Adelina.'

However, the decision to publish the footage attracted a separate reaction from viewers. One commenter questioned whether sharing the private wedding moment was appropriate, writing: 'Maybe it's also highly inappropriate for a guest to share this?'

Viewers Question The Decision

The discussion was not limited to Riley's behaviour, with some viewers turning their attention towards the person who uploaded the video. Their reactions raised a different question about whether moments captured during a wedding should automatically become public entertainment.

Other commenters were considerably more relaxed about the incident, defending the couple's freedom to celebrate their marriage however they pleased. 'Umm it's THEIR wedding. Let them do whatever they like. Good on them!' one person wrote, while another added: 'Who cares? Their wedding their choices.' Some viewers also wondered how Adelina's family might have reacted to the unexpected display, although no reaction from her relatives was provided.

Etiquette Expert Gives Verdict

Despite the bride's apparent laughter, etiquette expert Jo Hayes was not impressed by the groom's unconventional celebration. She gave the stunt a firm thumbs down, arguing that a wedding ceremony was not an appropriate setting for sexually-suggestive behaviour.

'While it appears to be consensual in this clip, the bride doesn't appear shocked or surprised, and doesn't appear to try and stop him, this is a wedding ceremony,' Hayes explained. She also pointed out that children could be among the guests, meaning the display might make some members of the audience uncomfortable.

Hayes even suggested Riley might have taken inspiration from the comedy film Wedding Crashers, before delivering her blunt advice: 'Save it for the honeymoon.'

Wedding Day Gets More Chaotic

The unusual altar celebration was not the only unexpected moment during the newlyweds' ceremony. Their planned exit music reportedly failed to play as they walked back up the aisle, with a blaring car alarm from a nearby parking lot taking its place instead.

Grieve appeared to embrace the mishap as another memorable part of the couple's big day, describing the combination of events as perfectly chaotic. Between the unexpected weather, Riley's celebration, and the malfunctioning music, the ceremony certainly did not follow a conventional wedding script.
