A rescue cat named Avril Lavigne has gone viral after social media users noticed the feline appears to have naturally dark markings around her eyes, giving her the kind of lived-in liner that defined the pop-punk star's early-2000s aesthetic.
While the punk pop princess may have popularised the grunge eyeliner look back in Y2K, this feline didn't even have to lift a single makeup brush to achieve the skater girl aura. She was simply born with it; no need to 'make things so complicated'.
To boot, in the middle of grunge makeup's current comeback, this might be the most convincing beauty campaign of the season.
Meet Catvril Lavigne
The two-year-old domestic short hair is currently under the care of the Surrey Animal Resource Centre, which introduced her with the kind of biography that keeps you interested.
While this Avril does not play guitar, the animal shelter joked that she does have 'pretty awesome eyeliner' and a personality ready to 'rock your world'. She is described as affectionate with people, happy to soak up attention, and very committed to being the only feline headliner in the house.
The centre has since marked applications for Avril as pending and is not currently taking additional submissions, suggesting her viral moment may already have helped attract plenty of potential adopters. Just like the 'Sk8er Boi' singer, this star already has tons of fans lining up to meet her.
'I want that cat in my life now,' one Instagram user commented, while another playfully said, 'Which one is the cat and which one is Avril Lavigne?'
'She Is a Skater Cat'
The internet immediately began rewriting Lavigne's discography, peppered with the most giggle-inducing feline puns.
